******Moderators, I understand that this is technically posted in the wrong forum, but thought it will get more traffic on this forum, any leniancy please? LOL.**********

Well, our Steelers are still on tour, next stop Detroit! The Steelers Fever Tailgate will be held in the JFR Parking lot. (Privately Owned lot, owner assured me that tailgating will be allowed.) The Lot can be found along Mountcalm St. Next to the Park Motel. On the map posted below it will be #10. It is approximately 3-4 blocks away from Ford Field going by the map. If you need a better map, go to the Detroit Lions web site, this is where I got this map. You need to get to the lot before 11 am on Sunday if you are driving. Once in the lot, look for a Blue Ford Probe. I will also hopefully have the Steeler Nation Banner up. I will have some Chili made and ready, also will be bringing some Hot Dogs and Hamburgs. So if ya want to bring some to cook, no problem, you can use our stove. Bring your choice of alcoholic, beverage or what ever you plan on drinking! I Know what I'll be drinking! If you get lost call me at my cell:724-651-9626 ask for Dom, or Stlrs4Life of course. And also you can call my brother Richs' cell at: 724-944-9547. If you have any other questions before I leave for Detroit on Saturday, call me or email me. I hope that the members that are not going into the game that we all can find a place together to watch it. The lot owner told me that we will be in walking distance of a few bars. I will be there all day Saturday scouting it out. Hope to see yous there!

Can the mods plaes make this a sticky thread? TY!

Here's the link for the map, it wouldn't let me post it as a pic, was too big:

Great idea....

I live in Detroit and was trying to decide what to do for the game. Problem is there aren't that many great sports bars around downtown.

There are some in the burbs. Chris Chelios has a nice sports bar in Dearborn which is about 15 minutes outside the city.

I would host a viewing (I have a 57" HDTV) but I currently live in an apartment and don't really have the room for a large gathering.

I am thinking tailgate until mid afternoon and then retreat to Cheli's....

I understand Hammer, hoope the lot owner didn't lie to me. He told me that there was afew bars around where we can watch the game. It doesn't have to be a sports bar. Just a TV to view it from.

Yeah, there's a few bars around there.

Hockeytown Cafe
Town Pump
any bar in Greektown
Cheli's Chili, the new one that's right across the street from the stadium.
Coaches Corner in Harmony Park
The Detroiter
The Loco Bar
Greektown Casino
Detroit Brewing Company

There's more, but i can't think of them. I hang out downtown a lot.

We will probably join you for the tailgate then head to one of the places to watch. My only issue is that I heard a ton of those bars will be charging outrageous covers to get in.

Expect about 5 to 8 people...

You know what, guys. I think it's going to be damn near impossible to get downtown on gameday if you don't have a ticket.

They are talking about how tight the security is going to be and they are blocking off a crapload of blocks around the city and i guess that a lot of the bars down there have been reserved for parties.

So, I posted in the "Fans United" forum about where Steeler Nation could congregate just outside of Detroit proper, in Dearborn.

Check out my suggestions in the "Who's coming to Detroit" thread.

That''s true but they are shuttling people into town. I won't be driving. I think Cheli's in Dearborn is an option. But Hockeytown is supposedly open without a cover for first come, first serve.

I think if we get down there early in the day...do some tailgating. Then head over to Hockeytown early afternoon and see if there is a chance to get seating. We may have to go earlier. If that doesn't work, then Dearborn it is, for us.

So, is there anyone else that plans on coming to tha D for the game?

I'm thinking that i might come down to the tailgate, then hightail back to Dearborn to watch the game. I have a sneaking suspicion that Hockeytown is going to be PACKED.

We were debating on driving up to Detroit for the Super Bowl but decided to stay in Pittsburgh. Maybe If I was in another city I would drive up, but would rather be here with fellow fans. Plus trying to get around Detroit is not worth it in my opinion. Between traffic and road closings and the mass quantity of people.....not worth it in my opinion. Staying in Pittsburgh and partying it up with fellow fans in Da'Burgh. Either partying at my house or calling the Sports Rock on Thursday to see if we have to set aside any type of reservations.

Still debating on what we are doing for Sunday.

You know...I kind of wish the SB wasn't here this year as I would normally be in Pittsburgh that weekend. But, I can't pass up the opportunity of experiencing a super bowl with my team. Especially since I just moved here.

I am up for the tailgate. The lot is right around the corner form hockeytown. Since I plan on being there in the early AM, we can stake out Hockeytown and see what the word is. If it looks grim, then out to Dearborn I go! I may end up watching the game at my place ont he 57" HDTV. Who knows? I do want to experience the tailgate and atmosphere with fellow fans though.

I plan on being down there early and then heading back to Dearborn to watch the game at Falls Sports Lounge.

I will definitely come by and say hello to the SF faithful, even though i'm a newer member.

Well...I am in Detroit and I can't pass this up.. We're coming.

There should be three of us for the tailgate then I think it's back to Dearborn or one of the local bars downtown to watch the game. We should be there around 10:00am...
