Man this team is losing players left and right. To FA, injury, off season issues. I know if anybody can pull a bunch of nobody's together into winners, its belicheck, but man, he's got his work cut out for him this year for sure.

I also think they might be a couple years away now. I think they mortgaged thier future a liitle and are paying for it now. But free agency isn`t over yet. It like they plaaned for this day, let everyone go and both coordinators, but hey what a run

BlitzburghRockCity

was kinda interesting to see all these players leave all at once.. it was like, OK, we won 3 super bowls, now lets all go out and make a shiat load of money and sign w/ crappy or below average teams.

HW4L I think you bring a good point...look at the pats and us. We just might have the solidarity to avoid those costly turnovers this year. Where as NE might get just enough new blood to make a few more mistakes than normal. Its a fine line in the NFL you can be 5-11 or Super Bowl champs, it just depends.[Notes that if BKA doesn't start representing his team better, then I suggest finding another board. We don't mind you're a Browns fan, we mind that you aren't a passionate Browns fan. Where was the fan making 70 posts a day?]

He`s a brownies fan, I`ve never lived amongst so many fair weather fans in my life. Thier fans are terrible. They were cavs fans until all star break, now thier starting to lose, fire thier coach, so they all became Indian fans again. that will last til late june, and then it will be browns fans again, til late sept. then cavs, til late jan. then Indians, til late june, the brownies, til. You get it. Its never ending.

You all think the Pats will suck but remember when they got rid of Lawyer Milloy? How about Damien Woody? And does anyone remember who started at CB for them last year??? It was Randal Gay, an undrafted rookie who couldnt even start in college...Even without Bruschi, the Pats will win....They have plenty of depth....Hell, they won two Superbowls with Antwain Smith running the ball....Bill Bellicheck will win it all...AGAIN

We already had Harrison when we let Milloy go.

BTW, we've only lost two players that really count this year. Bruschi, and Andruzzi. Law didn't play much this year, and besides, he was gone the moment he called Belichick a professional liar last spring. It was just a matter of when. Now Troy Brown is getting old, but everyone would like to see him back because he's loved by the fans. The reason we won't pay him what he might get elsewhere is because of the new Brady contract.

Last year we lost Woody, and Ted Washington. Two big loses.

David Terrell(WR) is a good get for the Patriots. They got him for a song, so if he doesn't produce, and/or can't keep his ego in check, bye bye. If he does, he's a steal. We also picked up Monty Beisel(LB) this week. I'm sure he'll start right away on special teams. As for time at LB, that's purely a wait and see situation.

Hardwork , I would like your honest opinion. What do you think the Pats record will be, considering thier schedule, players lost, players gained, and coaches changed. I`m always optimistic about the Steelers, but with the losses the Pats have even I would be a little unsure. What do you really think. Think with your head, not with your heart. I gotta echo the board HW. You wanna just blow up about it, take it the Furnace. If not you better come up with some facts. As for my take, I see NE being more reliant on the run, and softer against stopping it. So take Carolina, Pittsburgh to win, take KC to be able to throw up more points, and take Buffalo to split with the emergence of McGahee, I'd take them twice but Losman will blow one(Bill B. Factor). So I see 4-5 losses.

BlitzburghRockCity
04-15-2005, 05:38 PM
IM gonna reserve complete judgement on the pats till training camp starts and seewhat they have for personnel. They've made some moves here of late, but I think defense will be their heel this year. Believe it or not, yes even w/ bill b and as brilliant as he is, I just dont think they'll have the horses to keep up. but again, we'll see.

What do I really think? I think we'll have no trouble beating the Steelers. You don't have a QB. All you have to do is shut down your running game, which we did, and watch Big Ben throw it all over the state. Put a little preasure on that guy, and he can't hit the broad side of a barn door.

ironcitychef
04-19-2005, 01:39 AM

dude, you've got to be kidding me, we have not QB ???? what kinda crack are you smoking. :blah: Ben made plenty of plays under pressure last year, and plenty of critical throws to keep drives going. Sure he made mistakes too, but how many mistakes did brady make in his rookie year? and how many games did we win? and how far did he take the team in his rookie season?

Ben is the best QB prospect to come out of the league in a long time, and he showed his potential last year. He's alot like brady, he may not throw for 300 yds week in and week out, but he just wins and thats exactly what he did last year. WIN ! :boxing: :boxing:

Note what I said, oh blind Steeler fans. I did not say Brady did that his rookie year. I said, what did Brady do? Brady didn't play his rookie year. We already had a QB. But when Brady had the opportunity, he never looked back.

Now, so far Big Ben looks pretty good. But lets get this right here, he ain't no Tom Brady. Now if you want to get hung up on rookie year vs. first year of play in the NFL, than remember in order for your guy to equal Brady he has to win 3 out of the next 4 Super Bowls, and be the MVP in two of them. Lots of luck Ben. You'll need it.

BlitzburghRockCity
04-21-2005, 12:12 PM
Big Ben is absolutely the same mold as Tom brady, whether you wanna accept it or not. The Steelers never ask their QB's to throw the ball 50 times a game and get 300+ yds each week. Ben like Brady, is asked to run the system, control the clock, not make the big turnover, and methodically drive the offense down the field and score while eating up clock.

Thats not to say that Ben nor Tom couldnt throw for 300+ yds every week, but they arent asked too, and theres nothing wrong w/ that..nor is there anything wrong w/ comparing Ben to Brady at this point.

ironcitychef
04-21-2005, 02:36 PM

You guys have to learn something. The regular season doesn't do anything but get you into the playoffs, and allow you to hone your skills. THAT'S ALL. Winning in the playoffs is something else all together. Brady has never lost a playoff game. Not one.

BlitzburghRockCity
04-21-2005, 09:59 PM
u still have to win and play well in the regular season to get to the playoffs.. so dont go discounting wins just because they are in the normal 16 games. You guys have to win in those same 16 games too remember.

Of course we realize what really matters is the playoffs, DUH !! but if Ben took that many huge steps in 2004...2005 and beyond, the sky is the limit.

Nobody here is saying brady isnt great, we know he is, but we think Big Ben is pretty F'n good too!

Winning in the regular season gets you to the dance. But once you're at the dance, you gotta preform. No second chances. No, I whish I had that pass over again. No, we beat these guys during the regular season, we stopped their streak, therefore they're ours. No excuses. Execute, execute, execute. When, and if, the Steelers play like that, then we'll say you're the Champs. But not until. You have to get to the top the old fashion way. You have to earn it. You guys are doing a lot of talking, but so far you have nothing to back it up. And, let me say this. You come at us with everything you have, I know the Patriot's players wouldn't want it any other way. In the words of GWB, bring it on.

ironcitychef
04-22-2005, 12:33 AM
Earn it? You gotta a lot of nerve buddy. I do remember you all crying about how Tom the Great actually was "tucking" the ball and not passing it. And since Ben won 14-15 more games in his rookie season than Tom can we say that Ben is ahead of the learning curve to someday pass Tom Brady?

Brownskikass
04-22-2005, 02:18 AM

hardwork
04-22-2005, 10:26 AM
Wel, since you insist, I'll tell you what I really think. You guys haven't got a chance. Cowher will find a way to lose in the playoffs everytime, and Big Ben will never be good enough to overcome that. So, bring it on, your place or ours, it doesn't matter to us.

I think it presents a lot of problems. That's what football is, solving problems. For most of the past 4 years the Patriots have been solving the problems presented to them better than anyone else in the NFL. It would be easy to say that given the lose of certain members of the solving problem team that allowed them to do that will lead to a certain amout of failure this coming season. But, the reason they play the games, is to find out. So, lets just wait and find out. Training camps starts in only a few months.
