No reason other than to note how PC this league has become.

This used to be "the face" of an NFL franchise.

You think that's bad? Try comparing their mascot from the '70s and '80s to the one they replaced him with a few years ago, apparently just minutes after watching Brokeback Mountain.

He actually looks like he could be our own "Steely"'s brother in the mascot world! But the 49'ers mascot would be the one who worked his way through college & is now one of the groovy people living out in the Bay area with the cool apartment & the nice car while Steely is the kind of the brother who stayed behind & kept the same crappy job, had too many kids from too many drunken love affairs gone wild & will probably never amount to anything in life. :chuckle: (whatever happened to Steely, anyway? Did he get run out of town at last?)
