I am so tired of all these *******s on the internet talking bad about the Bus. They need to get a freakin life. Look what this guy Robert Littal (who the f*ck is he) said here is the link to the entire rant about Jerome:

Bus Stop 1-30-06

Lets just stop all this nonsense of Jerome Bettis
being a Top 5 back of all time. I know Bettis is
a feel good story of the Super Bowl, but the fact
of the matter is that a feel good story is all it
is. Bettis has been a very good back for a lot of
years, but only a dominant back for a few. Specifically
for the last 3 years he has been nothing more than
a short yardage back. He has been replaced in the
starting lineup by the likes of Amos Zeroe, Deuce
Staley and ?Fast? Willie Parker, not exactly the holy
grail of running backs. Bettis has only rushed for
over 1500 yards once (which is the true barometer of
a great back) and even though he is a big back, he
has only had over 10 TDs in 2 seasons. Shaun Alexander
has almost as many career TDs than Bettis in half the
time. I like Bettis, his nickname is top 5 of all time,
but the only reason we are even discussing him being
one of the top 5 rushers of all time is because the
only other Super Bowl storyline is can anyone guess
how far Matt Hasselbeck's receding hairline goes back.

Bus haters are a$$holes !! Down with them all !

Obviously written by a jealous punk who's never had the honor of player like Jerome on their team.

Those who denigrate Jerome do so because they don't understand what it takes to be a running back on a team which relies on a running offense not 5 years, not 10 years -- but 13 years. His resilience is his strength. We saw in the playoffs how on 3rd down, the Bus got it done even when the defense knew he was coming.

He is a short-yardage back who gets it done when the chips are down. That is what makes him a legend, a superstar and a HOFer.

The Bus has done nothin but go out and play his heart out every game he has played. He has played injured, sick, and still manages to push thru defensemen even at his age. He is also a man of great character and loyalty to the team and the city. This year the Steelers told him they could not afford in their budget to maintain his salary. Bettis took a drastic pay cut just to be able to remain on da team and play in Black n Gold. Where else in the NFL do you see this kind of loyalty to da team. Certainly not in da age of T.O. and Randy Moss and the Minnesota Vikings. Give me an example of a player wit overwhelmin character and loyalty to his team.. And then give me an example of where that same player is given da same loyalty and respect by his team. I'll give you one: the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Right, a class act indeed. But it seems like even that is the only thing you Steelers can come back with. Like the Seahawks (who is a team, not a person) he has been just average the majority of his career. Nothing to take away from his personality. I am sure he is a really nice person. However, unlike the Seahawks who are getting better, Bettis is just getting older.

That's nice...then you won't be offended when he smashes his way through your defense Sunday...you don't want to be labeled an "ageist".

I think a lot of people don't appreciate how much it means to fan base when a guy plays his heart out for them for over a decade.

You all will probably laugh to at the mention of him in the same thread, but we in Seattle have a tremendous affinity for Mack Strong. While I am in no way comparing him to Bettis in terms of what he has accomplished in the NFL, we love him because he's been here forever, he's always been a stand up guy, and he works his butt off blocking for the likes of Alexander. And he has never gotten any attention outside of the Puget Sound for this until he made the Pro Bowl this year, his 13th season.

Lame writers just try to tear down people like Bettis because they think it makes them look like they know more than the rest of us. But anybody with half a brain knows better.

Suitanim
01-30-2006, 09:12 PM
Actually, I'm glad you brought Max Strong up...We also have a Fullback, and he never gets any credit. His name is Dan Kreider. He's probably Strong's match in any category, but we just ask him to block. And he's pretty good at his job.

This is what the same writer had to say about Shaun Alexander after his concussion, so at least he is an equal opportunity basher

http://www.blacksportsonline.com/archive

Care Bear 1-15-06
Shaun Alexander is soft. Yeah I said and what are you
going to do about it? I understand a concussion is a
serious issue, but if you are well enough to jump around
on the sidelines like a little girl, you are well enough
to take your soft ass back into the game. It is easy to
run for 1800 yards and 28 TDs against the easiest schedule
in the NFL, but if you are a primetime performer you are
suppose to shine in thebiggest games and he came up small.
There is a reason why he hasn't signed a long term deal it is
because obviously someone doesn't thinkwhen push comes to
shove he can be depended on and if you think I am just
running off at the mouth, just do some research and you will
findout that his team and his coaching staff thinks he is
soft. The real MVP is Mack Strong.

This guy is simply nuts.

Jerome Bettis sits at #5 on the all-time rushing yardage list (13,662 yards), #8 on the all-time rushing TD's list with 91 (tied with Franco Harris). Walter Payton, Emmitt Smith and Barry Sanders are the only two back in the history of the NFL that sit above him on both lists.

Anyone looking to disparage Jerome Bettis does so out of jealousy or stupidity. This guy has been solid and continues to rumble. He'll crack the goal line at least once on Sunday. That's an easy bet...

what is with all this bettis talk, yeah he has had a good career. the fact is that he is just situational runningback now. in the steelers 3 playoff games he has only 137 yards. sure he has 3 TDs, but that is because he is their goal line option, he doesn't even start for the steelers anymore, except for next sunday because it is in his home town. Shaun Alexander had 132 yds. and 2TDs in one playoff game. he is the one who is going to shine on Sunday not bettis. "The Bus" will be lucky to get 50 yds. and and a goal line touchdown against one of the best rush defenses in the NFL.

SO STOP MAKING A BIG DEAL ABOUT HIM, HE'S BASICALLY A NON-FACTOR IN THE STEELERS WINS. BIG BEN HAS BEEN WINNING THE GAMES FOR THE STEELERS NOT BETTIS

Dumbest post so far this year. Why dont you go read the posts in this thread to get a clearer look. Because from your post, it sounds like you didnt watch the Indy game. And you didnt bother to see how the steeler teammates honored him by wearing his college jersey coming into Detriot. Bettis is more then the best big back of all time, he is an all pro human being and an asset the NFL will lose as a player and hopefully gain as an analyst...

You are blinded by his great career from the past, the fact is this year he has been a non-factor, unless you call the statline below something to fear. I respect what he has done in the NFL, but the fact is that the media is building him up strictly because the game is in his home town. No body will watch the bus run by them anymore he is probably the slowest guy on the field these days besides the linemen

2005-06 Pittsburgh 12 games 110 attempts 368 yds.

Hawk Believer

Even if his best days are behind him, the fact he's still out there and playing his last game in SuperBowl is inspirational. He has had a great career and we'll all remember him when we get old. And I wouldn't want to the guy between him and the goal line this Sunday. There is always time to debate his career numbers when his HOF eligibility rolls around. So I don't know why some writers feel the need to take shots at him this week.

PS - I think it could be argued that he has the best nickname of his NFL generation.

In the age of free agency, big,,i mean BIG money,,in sports, most especially football, I find it interesting that one of the FEW players who took a huge paycut, to remain with his team while other backs were being brought in, ie: Willie Parke, Veron Haynes...his name: Jerome Bettis. He may have only rushed for 1500 yards in ONE season, but it's his consistency as a TEAM player, yes, a team! Not One name on the Steeler bench stands out, because they are all dynamic in their own right. The Bus, right now, is glorious, returning to his home town to play the big game, and the attention and fanfare is not only well deserved, but overdue.

Just giving my props to the man who is the 6th all time rushing leader. And don't question my 12th Man status. I've been rooting for the Hawks before you were born. Stuck with the Hawks thick and thin. Yeah, I loved seeing Lofa head-on with Goings, but Lofa came out with a concussion and Goings ain't Bettis. I don't see anything wrong with showing respect for the enemy.

I'm a huge bus fan. Have his jersey signed. My only beef.......the "Bus coming home story" needs to die down just a little bit. If your in Pittsburgh, not only do you have ESPN and FOX pounding the story, but you also have the non-stop local media coverage. If you go by the local media here in Pittsburgh, you would think it's Jerome Bettis vs Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl 40.

I understand the media needs a story to jump on and go with, but it's starting to get a little overbearing. We have two teams playing in the Super Bowl. There aren't any other stories these people can ride? I'm not stating they should stop all coverage of the "JB coming home" story, but just give it a rest to a degree. I'm probably in the minority of Steeler fans that feel this way, but my head is about to explode.
