As of Friday morning, the game between the Jets and the Bengals is not a sell out. Amazing huh ? Great fans out there I see. What do you blame , a bad economy or a bad fan base ? You will never see this in New York ( or in Pittsburgh) !!!

If you are a true fan...when your team makes the playoffs, (especially as infrequent as the Benglas do) then you move heaven and hell to get tickets.

The Bengals fanbase has traditionally had to rely on half of their stadium being filled by the opposing teams fans. When they play a team who doesnt travel well, then you can see just how piss-poor the bungles fanbase truly is.

Can't say they wouldn't deserve it...

Don't worry, I am sure NBC will buy up whatever remaining tickets need to be sold to avoid a blackout. They don't want the Bengals-Jets game blacked out in Cincinnati.

Does this mean that even Bengals fans know that it's one-and-done for their fluke franchise?

I would imagine that the majority of their fans (possibly as many as 7 people) are all homered out over their post season prospects. I don't imagine that the bandwagoneers will be joining them anytime soon. After all, even bandwagoneers have *some* standards. :chuckle:

It is supposed to be retarded cold, maybe that has something to do with it. This isn't a team that has great tradition or a huge waiting list for tickets.

There are about 100 or so tickets left in the ticket office as of right now, mostly nosebleeds. The stadium should be full tomorrow.

I can't really explain why the Bengals have had trouble selling out this season. The past 3-4 years they had been selling out, no problem, even during last year's debacle. Then suddenly the Bengals have a good season and tickets can't sell anymore. :noidea: I guess the economy is to blame...oh well, as long as the Bengals keep winning things will work out.

Browns fans would have already start to camp outside for said tix the secound the clock hit 0:00 in Week 17. :)

damn, would kill to be in the Bengals position of hosting a playoff game, Especially the way it is outside right now in NEOhio. Would make for an awesome ball game.

That's very sad. Even if the Bengals got whooped by the Jets last week, you still show up to support your team.

Some organizations right now would kill to have a playoff appearance.

Who knows? Maybe they'll beat the Jets anyways, and then find a way to upset San Diego in the next round, then when they host Baltimore in the AFCCG, their fan base will FINALLY be waken up.

Remember that's the path Arizona walked down last year.

I can't really explain why the Bengals have had trouble selling out this season... I guess the economy is to blame......

economy is bad everywhere, yet teams with rabid, ardent fan-bases sell-out their games in no time:
do you think the division rivals like Pittsburgh, Baltimore, or especially the long-suffering Cleveland fans, would have tickets available 36 hours before kick-off?

in the 1970's, when the mills were closing every day, and people were leaving S.W. Taxylvania by the bus-load, 'em Stillers had no-trouble selling out every game, and their fans became known for making long-distance road trips in great numbers, so try selling the 'bad-economy' excuse to somebody who played hockey before the mandatory helmet-rule... or another Bungle fan

Yeah it was a skid mark of a season for us can't argue that, but the Steeler faithful will still invade your stadium again next year as we do every year even when you charge double the price and make people buy tickets to other games because your own fanbase is so pathetic.

CS85......the economy has not stopped anybody in Cincinnati from buying tickets to college football and basketball games. I work with people that have season tickets to UK, UC, Xavier, and Ohio state teams. (and they aren't just the doctors, but the staff as well) The economy is not the problem.

since their inception in 1968, years the Bungles finished above .500, including days of 14-game seasons

1970 8-6 / lose 1st Round AFC playoffs
1972 8-6
1973 10-4 / lose 1st Round
1975 11-3 / lose 1st Round
1976 10-4 / lose 1st Round
1977 8-6
1981 12-4 / lose SB 16
1982 7-2 / lose 1st Round {strike year}
1986 10-6
1988 12-4 / lose SB 23
1990 9-7 / lose Divisional round
2005 11-5/ lose 1st Round
2009 10-6 / ?????

1968-2009 regular season 282-360-2
1968-2009 playoff record 5-8
all-time record 287-368-2, winning percentage of .438, or an average of 7-9 (7/16 = .4375)

in their 42nd season (the same season 'em Stillers won SB 9), the Bungles have 14 seasons (1/3) where they have 4-or-fewer wins

I counted 12 seasons better than 9-7
'70, '72, '73, '75-'77, '81, '82, '86,'88, '05, and '09.

So if 9-7 is a "skidmark" of a season, what does that make the Bengals; a team that has failed to exceed that mark 71% of the time?

Bungles fans may want to look in the mirror when they don't sell out their games. I'm hearing the fans were throwing things at the players cars after the game yesterday. They are the most ill mannered fans I've ever been around. They don't have the 1-800-jerk line at the stadium for nothing. Most of the time, people call it to have their own fellow fans ejected and most people I know will not take their kids to a Bengals game because people are so obnoxious.

Being able to order LaRosa's pizza to be delivered to your seat is kinda cool, even though LaRosa's is rot gut when it comes to pizza.

living in Florida, we met-up with some friends for dinner Saturday at a sports-bar, so we could watch the game together while having dinner ~
there were 3 guys at a high-top table, wearing Bungle jerseys, and 2 more wearing sweatshirts with them, watching the game

we arrived before our friends, and got a table away from the door (it was 36*f that day), and being that cold, we were wearing our Steeler sweatshirts:
by-chance, they were 2 other booths, and 2 other high-top tables occupied by fans wearing Steeler gear

when our friends (originally from Ft. Wayne, Ind., & Buffalo, respectively) arrived and sat with us, they were surprised there were so-many Steeler fans at the joint, watching the game:
as I always enjoy teasing him about the 'Steeler-Nation', I reminded him

"... you gotta realize... we out-number the Bungle-fans... and we ain't-even PLAYING in this game!!!"
