---------------------------------------------------------------
yup. so far these playoffs were almost all blowouts, I guess statstically a really "great" SuperBowl (aka the Steelers and the Cards were) is followed by a boring BLOWOUT Superbowl.
If so, then it looks like New Orleans 54, Chargers 9
:(
gawwd I hope not.

How do you NOT double up on Whitten on 3rd and 10? Seriously...its like the most basic need for any defense playing the Cowboys...hey if its 3rd and 10, Double Whitten...so freaking dumb.

Kanata-Steeler
01-17-2010, 12:39 PM
for any guru's here:
that last throw by Romo, looked like intentional grounding, but it wasn't?, he was behind line of scrimmage and just threw it to the feet of that receiver. obviously he could have thrown a catchable 9 foot throw? but he just wanted to avoid sack.
I guess there is not a rule for that at all yet?

cover 2 defenses can be picked apart by short passes to the middle of the field. And when you have a big tightened like Witten, either he'll get catches, or he'll take up 3 of the linebackers, and maybe a safty leaving a lot of room for recievers to get open.

Cowboys run a 3-4 similar to steeler's and already gave up a long TD pass.

Cowboys 3-4 doesn't use as much blitzing from the outside, but yes, a 3-4 is Blitz is Risk Reward where a 4-3 2 deep is more a Bend don't break.

Vikings showed, they'll give up 3 all day, and a billion yards in stats, but hopefully they can score enough to beat you with you just kicking FGs all day.

Just an interesting philosophical difference from what we have been seeing on our Defense for years.

Tomlin is a 4-3 Cover 2 guy, so that's why I point it out.

Tomlin is the one that put together that Vikings defense that has been #1 in the run 3 years straight, and then dropped to #2 this year. But they really haven't been good in the pass. Which is weird because the Bucs have the same defense, but they are always good in the pass and terrible in the run.

Steelers blitzing is less risky, but our pass coverage schemes are similar to the cover 2.

Funny. A lot of his years I'd say the same about Brett Farve. It's just that occasionally he'll have one of those seasons where he isn't throwing a lot of picks. But that's normally the exception, not the rule.

Funny. A lot of his years I'd say the same about Brett Farve. It's just that occasionally he'll have one of those seasons where he isn't throwing a lot of picks. But that's normally the exception, not the rule.

To Romo's defense, they should have been running the ball a lot more against this Vikings squad. Especially playing in that dome.

It is true that Favre has had some playoff meltdowns, but a major difference (among others) between he and Romo, is that Farve has won it all before. For Tony, until he at least gets his team to the Super Bowl (which i hope never happens), he will be a big game choker.

Hey...so, Dallas looks like they have pretty good cover corners (better than the Steelers), yet Farve has carved them up. I'm guessing that the only way to beat that team on turf is to get real pressure on the guy?

I have yet to see anyone have that kind of deep touch on his passes when he's not even watching where the pass ends up. Brett fricken flings the pass, kinda blindly, yet it goes to exactly the right spot.

I don't think anyone thinks New Orleans (the city) DESERVES the Super Bowl.

They could have gone to the big game last season, but as good as their O was, their D needed some work. And there is nothing wrong with wanting New Orleans' football team to win the SB because of their recovery from Katrina. I have said myself that I would like to see that as the city is still trying to climb back and I think it would be a huge morale boost.

That said, I hardly think that is the same thing as saying the city deserves it. The Saints will get to the SB because they have fought, clawed and scratched their way to get there, not because they DESERVE anything!

4 and 3 on the Dallas 11 up by 24. You kick the FG and end it. I would be pissed if the Steelers did it too.kicking the fg is still piling on points. the vikings went for it on 4th down early in the quarter when they were easilly in fg range and failed to convert. a fg try in the last possession of the game was a more sure bet to put points on the board as opposed to converting an 11 yd td pass on 4th and 3.

so basically the vikings passed on two sure fg's for 6 points, but piled on an extra point by going 1 for 2 on 4th down conversions and getting a td.

i dont see the problem, being that they were actually giving the cowboys the greatest chance to keep points OFF of the board.
