You got it. The three materials used in making steel.

I believe that emblem (the 3 colored stars arranged like that) is actually the real logo for steel. If you look on the back of a steel can of arisol or something, you will see that logo there too. Pittsburgh used to be a huge player in the manufacturing of steel. Not any loger as most of the steel used in the US comes from Japan now.

Just because you read the story on Yahoo today.

answer me this: who was the DB that was the last person trying to catch Bo on that monday night game! Hint: your best DB in franchise history!

Lets see if you are a true fan or not.

The "stars" are called Hypocycloids.

The logo is based off the AISI, the American Iron and Steel Institute. If you go to AISI's website, you'll see that their present day logo is the hypocycloid (the diamonds on the logo).

I heard awhile back that it is water, fire, and iron(steel). I could be wrong, but I don't think I am.

This is partially correct. Republic Steel made the suggestion that the Steelers use a variation on a theme of the new "Steel" logo. Thanks Cleveland!
