Feb. 8 (Bloomberg) -- The Indianapolis Colts are favored by Las Vegas oddsmakers to win the Super Bowl next season even after losing to the New Orleans Saints in last night’s National Football League championship game.

The Colts were beaten 31-17 after getting outscored 25-7 in the second half at Sun Life Stadium in Miami.

Indianapolis, which had an NFL-best 14-2 record during the regular season, is given 13-2 odds to win next year’s Super Bowl in Arlington, Texas, according to Las Vegas Sports Consultants, which advises Nevada sports books on gambling lines.

“We’re bloodied, but unbowed,” Colts coach Jim Caldwell, 55, said last night. “We’ll use this disappointment. We’ll sulk a little bit, then pick it back up and see what 2010 has for us.”

The Saints, who entered this season with 20-1 odds of winning the Super Bowl, are a 7-1 shot to successfully defend the first NFL championship in their 43-year history.

New Orleans and Indianapolis finished this season with 16-3 records, the best in the NFL. The Colts started the campaign as the sixth choice to win the Super Bowl at 12-1.

“We’ve got to bounce back and get another shot at it,” said Colts receiver Reggie Wayne.

The Super Bowl after the 2010 season will be held in the Dallas Cowboys’ new $1.1 billion stadium. The Cowboys are the 15-2 third favorite after the Colts and Saints to win the Super Bowl and become the first team to win the NFL title in its home city.

The New England Patriots, who entered this season as 4-1 Super Bowl favorites, are tied with the San Diego Chargers as the fourth choice for the 2010 campaign with 17-2 odds.

They’re followed by the Green Bay Packers at 19-2, the Minnesota Vikings at 11-1 and the Pittsburgh Steelers at 12-1.

The New York Jets, who lost to the Colts in the American Football Conference championship game, are given 14-1 odds of winning the Super Bowl, while the New York Giants are 15-1.

not a bad breakdown, not sure why the Packers get more favor than the Steelers however, guess cause they actually MADE THE EFFING PLAYOFFS this year....

god I'm still bitter about that!

It means if you bet $1 on the Steelers now, you will win $12 if they win the Super Bowl next year. If you bet on the Colts, you have to bet $2 to win $13. And if you're dumb enough to bet on the Raiders, $1 gets you $125.

The Colts, Patriots and Cowboys are perpetually at or near the top of these lists. That means there are lots of people stupid enough to bet on them.

The Super Bowl odds have CHANGED. ESPN is now reporting that the Steelers are SECOND FAVORITE TEAM to win it all next season on the list off odds on favorites at (7-1.) The Colts are the favorite, and the Saints rank one below us. (Like all of this matters anyhow.)

No surprise because the Colts and Patriots are usually the normal favorites to win the Super Bowl almost every year. Time to begin the journey to #7 now :tt02:

I'd lay some on the Fish at 30-1

Now that would be a nice payout!
