Duke has actually gotten to be a lot better the past two seasons. Not good by any means but the improvement is there.

Vaguely remember the guy was a draft prospect back in the day and had a brief stint with some NFL clubs. I think he was a guy with speed from Duke, but not great hands. Come on over.

Let's hope someone can do something with Sweed. I have been in Sweed's camp all along, but Mike Wallace beat him out for his position. Personally I don't care what happens with Sweed now. If he does great, that is good. If he fizzles out and doesn't make the team, so be it. Not every draft pick pans out. Good luck coach. You have a dandy in Mike Wallace and Holmes to work with.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Burns High School graduate Scottie Montgomery filled the lone vacancy on the Pittsburgh Steelers’ coaching staff by being hired as the wide receivers coach.

Montgomery, 31, held the same job at alma mater Duke the last four seasons. He played for the Denver Broncos from 2000-02 after being a two-time MVP at Duke.

Randy Fichtner coached the Steelers’ wide receivers the last three seasons, but took over as quarterbacks coach when Ken Anderson retired at the end of the season

Under Montgomery’s tutelage, Duke had three receivers with more than 50 receptions and 600 receiving yards in 2009. Duke’s passing attack gained 3,660 yards (305 avg.) and accounted for 24 touchdowns last season.

Montgomery enjoyed a college career at Duke where he finished among the school’s all-time leading receivers.

He is one of just five two-time MVPs in Duke history. He currently ranks second on the Blue Devils’ all-time list in career receptions (171), fourth in receiving yards (2,379), and is one of only three players to lead the program in receiving in three straight seasons (1997-99). Montgomery is one of only two Duke receivers to post three straight seasons with at least 50 receptions and 600 receiving yards.
