Dolphins' Joey Porter a Patriot?
Patspulpit_tiny by MaPatsFan on Feb 12, 2010 5:50 PM EST in Opinion Comment 18

As everyone is now aware, the Miami Dolphins have released the "mouth of the south", outside linebacker Joey Porter. Porter was very vocal in his desire to be released after his role had been diminished in 2009. Porter is, for the most part, a loud mouthed, in your face, PITA. I dumped all over him after Spygate broke and he claimed that was why his former team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, had lost games to our New England Patriots. So be it. I still think he's a loud mouthed PITA, but bidness is bidness.

In a season that has seen the Patriots struggle on defense (especially in the pressure department), a maniacal, outspoken OLB could be the ticket. But, before NE should consider Joey, there are a number of questions that need to be answered. Why did HC Sparano (and Parcells) choose to diminish his role in 2009? I mean, the guy had 17.5 sacks in 2008. Is Joey's hatred for all things "Flying Elvis" really that deep or would dollars waved in his face change his mind? Could Belichick "rehab" Mr. Mouth? Is/Was he a locker room cancer?

Look, I can't stand Porter as much as the next NE fan, but this is the business of football and JP is a product worth considering, IMO. Maybe Adalius Thomas should go to Miami and we should take Porter. Maybe Joey is suffering from heat stroke and needs a little cold weather to shake him up. Maybe he hates us too much to even consider it. At any rate, it would be funny to hear him at his first press conference try to explain away this little nugget:

"My feelings toward New England go back further," Porter said. "It goes back to my Pittsburgh days. I felt a certain way, after some things came out, way back when I was in Pittsburgh, some AFC championships I lost to them, couple times. Come to figure out a few months later why we lost. So yeah, I have a natural hate for them. Period. And thatís just gonna be with me forever."

Maybe a little unemployment would change his mind. Maybe dollars change everything. Or maybe he's just too much of a punk to have around. Lots of maybes.

Seeing anyone that was once a Steeler playing for that turdie team makes me sick.

Don't do it Peezy!

I suspect he will end where all Steeler players seem to end up, Arizona.

What the bloody? Who gets paid to write like that?

Oh, and yeah, don't care where Porter goes unless it's here.

I hope he don't stoop that low hopefully he will end up somewhere else.

He won't go to the Browns, Bengals or Patriots.

He had bar fights with some present Bengals that made national news imo no way will that happen.

I have no problem with him back in black and gold... He might get a spark going again for 2010.. I'll try anything to get this D back to 2008 quality.. :)

the 2008 defence was one for the ages, that sort of defence doesn't come around every year.

I won't expect us to go back to the 2008 form.

Hopefully we can go back to the 2007 form from when we were healthy.

I think he'd much rather go back & get shot at again at that place than become a Patriot.

lol no not happening. Joey will be shot in the other buttcheek before it happens.

Yer right. I just CAN'T see him doing that, not Peezy, not ever!

He wouldn't go to New England. He hates the Patriots.

I can see him in Arizona.

Please just not the Browns, Bungles, or Cheatriots. Im not sure where he would fit best, probably AZ like every other past Steelers.

Dallas maybe?

Green Bay is running a 3-4 nowadays.

I really seriously doubt he'd even consider NE, unless he felt there was a way to "crack the code" and get the "secrets" he consistantly accuses them of having in regards to the video taping.

Green Bay is likely now that I think of it. They could use some fire on the defense.

Glad to see him out of the state now, he is a loud mouth who talks the talk but can't walk the walk.

I'm pretty sure he's stated publicly that he hates the Patriots and everything about them. I don't see him going there.

Oakland would be my guess; they'll pay him whatever he wants, they'd like his attitude, and they tend to always need help at every position that doesn't involve kicking the ball.

i seriously doubt porter could play LB in a 4-3.... :noidea:
