no doubt in my mind......they will run 80 percent of the time in the first half.....and it will be successful against this seahawks defense......we are going to out physical them and play ball control.....dont be surprised if jerome gets 25 to 30 carries and starts the game.

Clinton Portis ring a bell?

Yes- I hope the Steelers get wrapped up in nostalgia and let their backup running back have 30 carries.

I think that is very optimistic. I agree that they will run the ball more, I see about a 60-40 split. I think they will do the same thing, if they stack the line we will pass for a while until we can back them off, however, their secondary isnt the greatest so if they come up to stop the run and leave our receivers one on one with their secondary we will pummel them. I think once we get them backed off, which may not take too long, if they dont start the game backed off, we will run the ball consistently. I see Bettis playing a considerable role also in his farewell game.

Wait let me guess his response... Bettis is too old, wahed up and not productive...

But little does anyone look at the situations when we bring him in, goalline and short yardage. What do you want the guy to do, but 80 yds with 10 guys in the box. There is not one other running back throughout the history of the game that I would want on my team if it was 3rd and inches.

You'd take Bettis over Portis TODAY?

We shut Portis down 3 weeks ago. You think we can't stop the run?! Based on what???

Cowher would be an idiot to let Bettis have 30 carries. But it's been his M.O to get caught up in sideshows, so one can only hope....

I have an idea- why not try an on-sides kick to start the game off?

We will run a lot as in the past but we will also balance out wit passin. Bettis will come in again as his role of punchin it into da end zone aka da BUS stop. Earlier last week it was mentioned that da seahawks O-line avg. weight is 250-275 lbs. Bettis weighs 250 lbs. and he knows how to use it. Once you get da momentum he does......well you can either ride da BUS or get run over. Also Willie Parker will be doin a lot of da run as well and hes F-A-S-T. Don't expect you can just line up hard and stop either, Cowher is to smart to play into that. If we run we gonna make da seahawks run.....after us.

Bettis is a short yardage RB - The Steelers wont be able to run 80% of the time - if teams decide to stop the run - they can pretty much do it, especially if they are good enough to reach the SB.

Im going to go ahead and be surprised if Bettis gets 25-30 carries - he does not have the ability or stamina to bring that sort of game.

Portis had been shut down a numbe rof times this year already, no impressed!!! Wow, I stopped clinton portis...

here are some of his games
dallas - 52 yds
seattle - 90
kc - 77
phi - 67
oak - 92
sd - 87
tb - 53
sea - 41

now come on, you act like this guy was barely ever stopped. He only scored 13 td's all season with 3 coming in one game vs SF....

Portis is a good all-situation RB - Bettis isnt.

Despite the feel good factor about Jerome being in his home town - logic says he may get a couple of 2Yd TD's but he wont be running for anywhere near 100yards.

I was never as confident as alot of these Steeler fans when we played the Eagles last year.

if the Steelers use that strategy they will get destroyed. Keep doing what got you there. Open it up with Ben, stay aggressive, and the Steelers will win.

Start off with Ben throwing the ball. Establish a lead and when all is safe, bring in the running game and grind them down, along with the clock.

Worked the last four games. Why not stick with it? My biggest fear is Cowher switching back to our "old" ways. I'm not stating we should air it out the whole first half, but I would stick with what we have been doing since the start of the playoffs.

Yeah- he was nails at the goal line against Indi. You should even be here thanks to him.

I love how there's always some BS reason the Seahawks didn't "really win" every game we played.

How many times do you expect to find yourself on the one yard line anyway?

Oh, and I'd take the 28 touchdown, best Red Zone runnuing back in the game over Bettis- oh wait, we have him!

When Shaun Limp wrist Alexander puts up 13000 yards come talk to me.
Yeah and that was the first fumble since 2004 that Jerome had.
Bring Shaun but putt some extra pads in his helmet so he doesn't get another boo-boo concusion from one hard hit

I wouldn't! And I don't know that anyone here is acting like you didnt really win every game, mostly it is just countering you who is saying your team is god's greatest creation. I think you need to start looking more open minded. I give the Hawks props for what they did and I acknowledge they have a good team. But my goodness, fans like you make me sick. You act like you know soo much about football, say stupid stuff and just act all annoying, so of course when we hear such lame comments as you are making we are going to counter them.

DUDE- I'm a life-long Seahawks fan, if there's one thing I am, it's open minded about their chances of winning. These aren't the Seahaks of 1985-2000 and Yyur team isn't the 1978 Steelers.

Sure, we could easily lose Sunday- but we didn't get here by luck. This years' Hawks are the real deal- I've seen it up close.

Nah, I'm not even bringing the old Steelers into it my man. Like I said before, I give your team props for getting here because... yada yada yada... Anyways, I'm glad you've seen it up close and maybe that is why your comments are too ignorant, maybe you need to back up a bit and look around the league a little more.

ill give you the first part, but will have to poo poo the rest.
I love the bus more than any other non hawk player out there, and give him mad props, but I think shaun has earned some too as he is over halfway to jerome's number in just 5 seasons. I know we are talking smack here and all but shaun is a great back and I think we might both be rooting for first round hall of famers.

I'll give him that when he gets there. Just like you said of the game.
A lot can happen in a career to stop it short of the hall of fame
That and who knows where he'll be playin next year

Willie on screens to get him some running room. Watch the motion man and the quick shuttle to Randel El or Hines or play off that with a quick hit over the middle to Big Heath!
Don,t guess what will happen its going to be a different game.

I seriously doubt that we run 80% of the first half unless the Seahawks just can't stop it, which I doubt. Our running attack hasn't done much in the playoffs. Teams play to stop it so that has left the pass open.

Someone said that Bettis can't handle 30 runs a game, well he got the ball 17 times against Chicago (remember when they were the best defense in the NFL?) and gained over 100 yards. I know it's not 30 carries but believe me if it's working in the Super Bowl Jerome will stay in there.

I don't think Bettis should start though. Willie P. is a big reason why we made it this far and he deserves the start in the Super Bowl. Bring in Bettis on short yardage and if we have a lead in the second half then give him some more carries.

We definitely need to stick with what got us here. Although the spotlight is on Bettis we need to give Parker the ball to start the game.

parker has been looking a lil tired lately and putting ball on ground . but he is a homerun threat every time he has the ball
