Not just because of the talent available, but because look at the last 20 guys that got selected 18th overall. Not all that impressive. Some decent players there, but nobody I'd consider a star:

09- Robert Ayers LB (Tenn)
08- Joe Flacco QB (Balt)
07- Leon Hall CB (Cin)
06- Bobby Carpenter LB (Dal)
05- Erasmus James DE (Min)
04- Will Smith DE (NO)
03- Calvin Pace DE (Ariz)
02- T.J. Duckett RB (Atl)
01- Jeff Backus OT (Det)
00- Chad Pennington Qb (Jets)
99- Matt Stinchcomb OT (Oak)
98- Robert Edwards RB (NE)
97- Kenny Holmes DE (Tenn)
96- Eddie Kennison Wr (Stl)
95- Napoleon Kaufman RB (Oak)
94- Dewayne Washington CB (Min)
93- Ernest Dye OT (Cards)
92- Dana Hall FS (SF)
91- Alfred Williams OLB (Cin)
90- Tony Bennett LB (GB)

We'll see, considering the draft isn't even here yet and we don't know who we got. Flacco stands out there, but we'll have to see what he does as time progresses.

That's a bold statement, but I sure hope you're right.

Also, as much as I despise the Ravens... I still have to say that Flacco is better than most give him credit for. IMO as a quarterback, he is more than just "decent".

this is a good read. it shows how some people are not always what you expect. for example during the combine and on draft day everyone thought glenn dorsy would be the next big thing. everyone thought he would make an immediate impact because he was unstopable in college and had such a good combine but its 3 years later and he is only average at best

Chiefs screwed him up by switching to the 3-4.

Leon Hall was a criminal before the nfl. should not be on the list

I agree with that statement as well. Look what they done to Brandon Albert as well.

thats all part of football. it happens all the time. there are so many college
4-3 DT's playing end in nfl and 4-3 ends playing LB. it just happens. alot of people including myself thought the chiefs got the best player in the draft with dorsy and were wrong

I love how they talk about Cody losing 16 pounds as if it was some complete makeover and change in lifestyle and he's suddenly svelte. The dude takes a 16 pound crap every morning.
