I have one question, I've had my tv for a year now but yesterday I had the new dish and HD recv put in....
My question is this:
The HDMI cable is like $150, right now I'm using the pb-wb-whatever cables......I watched the Sixers game tonight on espnHD and it looked great, but will the HDMI make that big of diff to spend the cash.....Please help.....If you have this tech.....

They can make that big of a difference, but you do not need a $150 one. I think we got ours at Best Buy for about $65. Enjoy the game.

Well it might make a difference.... You should just buy the cables and test it out. We just bought a new 50 inch plasma and got the HD digital box and it looked great, went out and bought the cables and they made an unoticeable difference. So we just took the cables back.
But I have this friend who recently bought and LCD tv and he bought (something composite) cables for his TV and he said it made a big difference.
So I'd say buy the cables, and if they don't make a difference, just return them.

Having your set calibrated by an ISF trained technician will help the most. HDMI passes a digital signal (unlike component, RCA or S-Video which are analog). You are currently using Component cables which are the high end analog cables. I would suggest using a decent quality set of these and Radio Shack usually has good deals on them. Switching to HDMI shouldn't show much of a difference unless you get your set calibrated by a pro. Put that money towards the calibration.
Decent Component cables shouldn't show much of a difference but a lot of that has to do with factors such as the source feed, length of cables used, size of TV and the settings you have on it.
Don't overspend on cables (i.e. Monster). Decent cables can be had online or from places like Radio Shack for much cheaper. I bought a DVI cable online from Belkin for $12 but Best Buy wanted $65 for a similar one. No difference in quality.
