So, Clark is back. Will Allen replaces Carter on a 3 year deal and Earl Thomas is no longer on the radar. Now, maybe Barry Church is on the radar as a SS to backup under Troy, because Mundy, Allen, Clark are all really FS prospects.

The #18 pick is starting to look like Kyle Wilson or Patrick Robinson.

Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post reports that the Steelers have re-signed free agent S Ryan Clark.
Smartly, the Steelers didn't stop pursuing Clark after their Monday addition of backup-caliber safety Will Allen. Also smartly on Clark's part, he leveraged Pittsburgh by taking a Monday visit to the Dolphins. Clark turns 31 during the upcoming season and has never been a big-time playmaker, but is a banger in the back end with above-average range. His return is good news for a Steelers secondary that may experience major overhaul at cornerback.

That's what it's starting to look like but never rule out LB. I still wouldn't mind OL in the first and then CB in the second.

You think quality of offensive lineman is why the Steelers got away from the run? Have you seen our offensive coordinator and our QB?

LOL. Now I hope the Steelers grab a good linebacker to replace Farrior (eventually).

100% with out a doubt definatly. we lost feneca and we lost the hole he made on the inside. have you watched many steeler games the last 2 years. there arnt many holes to run thru anymore. you put chris johnson on our team last year and give him the same number of carries and i bet he wont hit 2000

LOL...our secondary will be better next year if for no other reasons than,

1) Troy healthy
2) CB competition between Gay, Keenan Lewis and whomever we draft with the second pick
3) Allen replaces Ty Carter

I don't know folks. As much as I wanted Mays, this looks like a good move by the Steelers.

They got Ryan for less than 5 million per year, and I think he plays well with Troy.

Steelers all of a sudden have a lot of bodies in the secondary. Let's hope they can cover.

You don't have a 4000 yard QB AND a 2000 yard RB. This isn't arena football.

you havnt noticed the running game not opening up holes like it did when feneca was there? i sure did. yes we throw alot more which should open up the running game but with the exception of a few games it never did. we trow because we had to. i think we need a new tackel and gaurd so we can run like we used to

Steelers and Clark reach agreement on new contract

On the same day they signed Tampa Bay safety Will Allen to a three-year, $4.4 million contract, the Steelers have reached agreement with free safety Ryan Clark -- a deal that will keep him with the Steelers for four more seasons.

Clark, an unrestricted free agent, visited today with the Miami Dolphins, but changed his mind and agreed to a contract with the Steelers.

The Steelers, though, aren't done signing current or former players.

The Post-Gazette has learned they are very close to a deal that will bring receiver Antwaan Randle El back to his former team. Randle El, who played here from 2002 to 2005, was released three days ago by the Washington Redskins.

Allen, who was signed along with San Francisco 49ers receiver Arnaz Battle, will replace veteran Tyrone Carter as a backup safety.

The funny thing is that I've heard some Steelers fans express concern about Art III. Specifically, he took some heat for apparently low-balling Cowher. Personally, while I only know him by reputation and from what HTG has said about him based on her experience, he seems like a pretty practical guy. He is a Rooney so obviously he is not going to spend money just to spend it, but if he sees an opportunity where spending a little more will make a big difference the corporate lawyer in him says "pounce." In other words, he still does business like a Rooney, but maybe a little more shrewdly.

We could still get a Cornerback, getting Bodden means they want someone good (i didnt think he was good). ex. Kyle Wilson lol

IMO, 18 is too high for Wilson or Robinson. I would rather see what we have with Burnett or Lewis. Focus on ILB OL and DL depth. With Clark back the chemistry will return with troy and our secondary immediatley improves, Allen is a great addition as a backup.
Defensively we need to get Farriors eventual replacement and Hamptons eventual replacement, that is more pressing IMO than drafting a third CB in the last 2 years.

Ryan Clark says no to Miami Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins' search for a free safety continues.

Ryan Clark met with the Dolphins on Monday, but left town without agreeing to a deal.

Instead, Clark boarded a plane with a new four-year contract from the Pittsburgh Steelers, his team the past three seasons.

Clark's agent, Joel Turner, said his client "did some soul-searching" and concluded it was best for him and his family if he remained in Pittsburgh.

"This is one of the first deals in NFL history that wasn't about the money," Turner said.

"He's entitled to change his mind. It's his life."

Turner said Clark took less money to return to the Steelers, who offered a four-year deal worth a reported $17 million, including $5 million in the first season.

Clark, 30, has a wife and three children in Pittsburgh and didn't want to uproot them to move to South Florida, Turner said.

"My plan was to retire a Steeler," Clark told Anderson. "It took a little longer than I wanted it to get this deal done.

Clark led the Steelers in tackles and ranked second among safeties to New Orleans' Pro Bowler Darren Sharper when it came to defending the pass, according to the Web site Pro Football Focus
