who is charlie whitehurst you may ask? he is san diegos 3rd string qb who is a 4th year pro taken in the 3rd round out of clemson, i believe.
seattle just traded a 3rd round 2011 pick and swapped seconds (a high second for one at the bottom of the round) with san diego and gave him $10 mil for 2 years.
strictly going by the value chart, the trade roughly equates to a mid 2nd rounder for a 3rd stringer who has never taken a snap in the nfl.
this deal is intriguing in many aspects, and i have listened to arguments on both sides that seattle are complete idiot, to them making a wise and safe desision and really didnt give up as much as it would seem on the surface.
i have also listened to pete caroll candidly justify the deal. i can equally argue and defend both sides of the argument.
what i am wondering is why we dont rake wreckless teams like the raiders and seahawks over the coals like the patriots do.
not that i wanna see dixon traded. that 5th round pick looks more and more promising, and im not sure i would even dump him for a mid second. especially not now with brittle and aged batch as the next best option at back-up.
theres lots to this deal, and i find the discussion much more compelling and related to actual football than "what if big ben were black".
