I know that Ben will have a more in-depth understanding of the offense this upcoming year however, I truly believe that his rib / thumb injury was the underlying cause of his playoffs inaccuracies.

most of it has to do with beigna rookie he wqasnt use to that long of a season and his body just couldnt keep up.ist the rookie wall eveyr one meets

???? Noy sure, Cowher seems to think there was no injury.

I think the injury may have been some of it..but the majority was, he just got plain worn out..he hit that rookie brick wall, and while he still battled thru it and we won games, u could tell when he was just mentally drained.

every rookie goes thru it, but its more evident w/ QB's of course.

I hope thats the problem, and he adjust this year, he is at UPMC everyday working out so he should be OK

and he's got the best DC in the business in Lebeau teaching him to read defenses.. along with Whipple.. so he's got the teachers, now he's gotta learn it!

I think Im almost less worried about him this year..becuz he saw so much last year, which was valuable experience for his future.

Plus he should be used to the media pressure

all rookies go thru the same problems but, the last thing i want is the media to get to him like chad pennington

I think if you watch the films of last year, for the most part he was only reading half the field. Sometimes guys were open, but he wasn't really watching them. As a coach you would tell a QB, that in case of danger, dump of to the number 5 guy on the progression, but I think they held back on that not wanting to overconfuse his reads. Because like 65% of the time he found someone on one half of the field in his first 4 reads.
