Sounds like a good move for both. Singletary will get him to produce and the Phins no longer need him.

I figured this would be coming after they got Marshall.

Miami got a fifth round pick out out the deal.

Fresh off their acquisition of Brandon Marshall, the Miami Dolphins on Friday traded wide receiver Ted Ginn Jr. to the San Francisco 49ers.

The trade was first reported on the Twitter account of FoxSports.com's Jay Glazer.

The 49ers will send a fifth-round pick in this year's draft to Miami, a league source confirmed to ESPN.com's Mike Sando.

The three-day draft begins Thursday

He's a career special teamer...and that's about it. He's a "track N field" WR...which means great straightline speed...but little else.

He's too small to be an effective blocker (and not interested in that part of the game anyways.) He has suspect hands and is a terrible route runner.

I like Singletary...but he's a football player turned football coach....not a miracle worker

If anyone should know anything about leadership, it's you. Did you not follow what Singletary did with Davis? He molded Davis into a leader. I watched it unfold with my own eyes and I remain highly impressed.

Ted Ginn isn't going to become Jerry Rice, but I think he'll be more productive as a 49er than he was as a Dolphin and I mean that on offense as well as ST's.

The great thing is, we'll get to to see. :chuckle:

Davis had the natural ability to be a really good TE (I assume you are talking about Vernon Davis) at the NFL level. Ted Ginn does not. He might be able to get more out of Ginn than the Dolphins were able to...but I don't think it will be enough. Ginn is a special teams specialist and will only break into the WR rotation if there are major injuries. Naturally, this is all just an opinion...but it's one that this Buckeye Fan can say he believes wholeheartedly in...from watching Ginn for years. I'd love for him to represent tOSU in a big way...I just never believed he had it in him.

Ted Ginn has not panned out, they was high hopes on this kid. Maybe a new team is what he needs but so far he has been a disappointment.

With Vernon Davis, I wasn't comparing the talent, I was comparing the coaching and leadership aspect (of Singletary).

You probably do know more about Ginn than I do, but then again the 49ers (and Phins a few years before) both thought he was worth a first rounder.

What Did We Get For His Family?

The Miami Dolphins as you know by now traded Ted Ginn, Jr. to the San Francisco 49ers. Staff Writer A.J. Minichino reported the news earlier today as it happened. The Dolphins received a 5th round draft pick for the speedy WR who seemed to only perform when he played against the New York Jets. So what did we get for the rest of his family?

Ted Ginn and his family [see link for youtube clip] :chuckle:

Ted Ginn and his family have been the butt of every joke in Miami since he was drafted number 9 overall 4 seasons ago by Cam Cameron and Randy Mueller. The two have thus far managed to draft 2 players that have remained on the Dolphins roster. 7th round punter Brandon Fields and 4th round NT Paul Soliai. But it was Ginn and 2nd round pick John Beck who took the brunt of the ire from Miami fans.

i supported santonio holmes, every step of the way, through every indiscretion, and am absolutely disgusted he has lowered his trade value to that of ginn. :dang:

i even believed he might be a crucial cog for the steelers to resign. i shoulda learned with plexico.

its gonna suck watching the piece of shit do damn good things with the jets. but it will also be fun to watch t. ginn turn into allen rossum for the 49ers.

I never thought that Ginn was a #1 receiver in the NFL. He is a #2 at best, a compliment to a dominant receiver.

Ginn Jr. is going to be the brunt of more jokes in San Fran, seeing as how they have two very young, promising receivers in the wings (Morgan, Crabtree), Vernon Davis, and Frank freakin' Gore. Those 49ers have highly underrated talent on both sides.

Ginn won't even play as a WR. He'll be a return guy since they were last in returns last year. He's a #4 option at best even with their WRs. Of course you could put Marshall, Moss and Reggie Wayne on their team, they still have nobody to throw them the ball.

I thought he had done a good job while at Ohio State but I never thought he was worth the high draft pick when the Dolphins selected him. I f it was me, I'd wait to see if he was still there in 4th round...
