If we can pick up Jason Campbell for a "low" (ie rd 6 or rd 7) pick, I think that would be a good idea. His numbers look pretty decent and he's young enough to think he can still improve. Anyone follow the Skins closely and know why he's being unloaded? Is he prone to interceptions?

Here's the report from fanball:

According to the Washington Post, the "widespread belief" in Washington is that quarterback Jason Campbell will be traded during next week's draft for a "low" pick.

No, he's being unloaded because he's prone to sucking.

DO NOT WANT. If Ben goes elsewhere (long shot), I'd rather they take their chances with Dixon.

Not to replace ben but if we had to start the season without ben, campbell is not a bad idea the only problem is hes not a cheap backup so when the uncapped year ends it could cause some issues for us

I wouldn't trade a washing machine for Jason Campbell.

Yeah, I don't know...even if he was cheap I still don't think we would need him. I think Dixon would do just fine for a game or two if that's what it came down to.

Some folks here must be allergic to Dennis Dixon. WE DO NOT NEED him

I still remember all of the hype surrounding Campbell a couple of years ago. He had no interceptions in the season around the 7th week. He was supposed to be the second coming and the next Superman. Then Troy Polamalu picked one off and thus began his career slide.

No, Campbell just isn't very good.

Count me as one of them. I'd rather have Campbell or Leftwich.

Jason Campbell??? The guy can't play. Why else do you think the redskins prefer an aging McNabb ober him and want him traded.

anyone have anything specific regarding his strengths and weaknesses besides "suckiness"? He's on a one-year tender contract, so beyond this year, we wouldn't be saddled with a big contract.

This wouldn't be to supplant Dixon... just an insurance policy. I'd rather have Campbell playing over Batch.

Well to tell you the truth as much as I think Campbell sucks I think Dixon would be that much worse of an option. I'm all for bringing someone in if Ben is suspended, but there are just guys I would bring in ahead of Campbell.

from scout.com (from a Skins fan):

Jason isnt a very good QB and here is why...

1) He is slow to read the defense
2) He doesnt seem capable of "finding" a receiver until he is already open, he has bad anticipation
3) He has bad pocket presence, he could help his line out, but he doesn’t
4) When he does find someone his accuracy isnt very good

Sounds like a kordell clone.

if the price were the same, i would rather have bulger.

but i cant say that campbell wouldnt be a bad investment for the future as back-up.

he is basically EXACTLY what charlie batch was with the lions (minus barry sanders) when we acquired him.

He's actually not as bad as people seem to think. He's a little slow in reading the defenses and needs some more work in that area, and he's a little slow in his decision making. Sometimes he overthinks things. Overall it's not really his fault as he's gone through 3-4 different offensive systems in his five year career. He could have been a very good QB, but Snyder ruined him.

I still think he could be an above average QB in the right team with some stability for a year or two.

Campbell sucks and the only thing he has going for him is that the Redskins are less gay than the Patriots.

I'd rather have either Dixon or Batch over Campbell to be honest.

Campbell would be a good one as he seems well at backup than a starter.

Wow i think a lot of people have no idea exactly how crappy Campbell has been in his time in Washington. Dont use the "he didnt have any weapons" arguement. He had enough weapons, at times, plenty of them. His O-line has been to good during his stay. He's had Clinton Portis keeping defenses honest, and a defense behind his back to give him numerous opportunities to make plays. He has no arm strength, and limited intellect to make up for that. Hard to tell if he would even survive outside of his West Coast Offense shell protecting him from throwing too many incompletions.

He's a pus cake that's never going to be anyone's savior.

NO WAY JOSE. Next thing someone will be saying we need to bring in Tavaris Jackson. They are both the same player and they SUCK.

I would say no I believe that Dixon can do the job. Dixon has only started one game and played well.

I believe Dixon will play well enough to help us get into the playoffs and maybe well enough to Keep Ben on the bench the entire year. IMO
