Browns running back Chris Jennings was arrested early Saturday morning on suspicion of assault for allegedly confronting a doorman outside the Velvet Dog, a dance club in the Warehouse District.
Jennings was taken to city jail about 2:15 a.m. Saturday. He has not been charged.
Jennings' arrest comes at a time when NFL players have come under intense scrutiny because of of the incident involving Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.
Roethlisberger was accused of sexually assaulting a 20-year-old woman in Georgia on March 5. After a lengthy investigation by Georgia authorities the district attorney concluded there wasn't enough evidence to prove beyond a reasonable doubt Roethlisberger was guilty, so he he did not file charges. Still, Roethlisberger faces discipline from the league and the Steelers.
Jennings signed with the Browns last summer as an undrafted free agent after a brief career with Montreal in the CFL. He played in nine games and rushed for 220 yards. The Browns re-signed him in March.
