It's pretty much now or never for him this year with the Steelers. He's being given an opportunity, hope he steps up and takes advantage of it.

Damn right as long as Sweed is a Steeler he will have me as a fan. I root for the team, not for the individuals. They have to perform as one. If he disappoints and plays as poorly as he has at times, then maybe I will change my mind. Oh I forgot. I never liked Carey Davis and he was a Steeler. Go figure.

Very much so. I do hope the kid steps up. I also hope that if he does drop one, Tomlin doesn't just pull him. He needs to work through the mental side of the game and get up to speed. Give the kid a little confidence, and I think he will do wonders.

I think the pre-season would do wonders for his confidence before the season starts. Get him in there and throw as much as possible to him and start building it up before the real season starts.

Yeah, I'm sick of all the Sweed bashers....give the guy a chance this season, I think once he gets some confidence back he will be OK.

Some people on this forum should think back to the early 70's and a rookie QB named Terry Bradshaw........:helmet:

The way Sweed faked an injury to try and get sympathy after dropping that sure touchdown in the playoffs really ticked me off to a point where I will probably never like him even if he turns into a pro bowler.

I am a fan of Sweed (as long as he is a Steeler) and hope he does well. With Santonio gone maybe the dynamics in the locker room and between receivers has changed giving Sweed another chance to overcome his mental blocks. I say mental because...I just can't believe a guy who was a good receiver in college...all of a sudden acts like he's never caught a ball. It has to be mental and as such...maybe
"another chance" with an "alpha dog" in Holmes gone...Sweed will be productive.

I would love to him come out of the slump he is in. He has already showed us he can get open he just needs to hang on to the ball.

I heard the barbell slipped out of his hands right after this pic was taken.

No, of course I'm just kidding! I still think he can be great and it's all up to him now. Good luck to you, Limas!
Hey...what happened with that Lyme article on him? Did it turn out that was a part of his troubles?

Sweed might lead the team in receptions this year.

Nothing better than forgive and forget. What was he, 22 at the time (I believe this was the playoff game his rookie year)? I've done a lot of stupid sh!t since I was 22 and you probably have too. Glad others have learned to get over my stupidity and given me opportunities to succeed as I grow.

So the kid dropped a couple passes and suffered some mental set backs because of it. Hell, this same problem sent Chuck Knoblauch (multiple Golden Glover winner) into early retirement. I'm behind the guy 100%. At 6' 5" and 230 lbs and consistently getting behind coverage ... I'm all for him succeeding as a Steeler. And we know he can block. Hell, this pic of him pumping iron ... that looks like 215 lbs on an incline... not something you see too many receivers doing.

Let's see what you got Sweed, time to step up.
