I saw this on a mock draft does anyone here think we might go that route.

18.) PIT - Jared Odrick - DE - Penn State - 6050 304 - 5.03

This is a pick I havenít seen yet, but the more I think about it, the more I see it. Sure, itís a slight stretch considering Ziggy Hood was drafted at the same position in the 2009 first round, but the Steelers could certainly use more youth at the position. And there isnít another 5-tech in the draft with the fit, motor, size, and work ethic of Odrick. With Dan Williams and Kyle Wilson off the board, the only other option seems to be an interior lineman like Mike Iupati or Maurkice Pouncey, but donít you think the Steelers will want to punish Big Ben, just a little. Odrick and Hood would lock down the defensive end spots for years, freeing the Steeler to take a nose/corner/guard in the second.

I'd be VERY mad if we passed on Earl Thomas like that. If he's gone then it's a good pick but not with Earl Thomas still available.

Odrick at 18 is a reach. He is maybe in the 27-35 range. There are better D-Linemen who will go after him in all likelyhood. Lamarr Houston is one. Brian Price is another.

i have been saying we take odrick for a while now. he may be gone before we pick but if he is there he will definatly be a possibility. without a very good DL in a 3-4 you defense will fall apart. the line is way more important then alot of people think and without smith last year most QB's had more time which is why the cb's couldnt stay with there man

Odrick won't be gone before the 18th pick...what world are you living on ? The Penn State DT is okay. Has some skills and energy. But also was PUNKED alot last year against average O-Linemen. The earliest he will go will be around 25 or 26.

I hope not. It's just not as much of a position of need as CB or OL IMO.

No no no no...i would be angry with this stupid pick...it is not that big of a need...with 2 young guys waiting in the wings in Hood and Harris...not to mention a solid backup in Eason being re-signed. Theres no room for a high pick like that at DE. Decent DE's can be had later in the draft too if they wanted another. Now NT i'd be better with...but Id rather have OL or DB. Those are much much bigger needs.

I think I would rather see Kyle Wilson at 18.

If odrick for some reason reaches the middle of the 2nd I say get him

Hell, if he's available at around 10th pick in the 2nd round I wouldn't mind trading for him
