Rams ship DT Carriker to Redskins, move up in fifth round of draft
The St. Louis Rams have traded defensive tackle Adam Carriker to the Washington Redskins for a fifth-round pick in this week's draft, a league source said Tuesday.
Rams general manager Billy Devaney later confirmed the deal, although he didn't disclose terms, and he said the team had enough depth to do it. Devaney also said the 2010 draft class was loaded with defensive tackles.
Carriker was a first-round pick in 2007, but his career hasn't panned out as the Rams hoped, and he missed the 2009 season because of a shoulder injury. Redskins defensive coordinator Jim Haslett was with the Rams when Carriker was drafted, and Washington has long been interested in the lineman.
The trade is another move toward fortifying the Redskins' defensive line. The team also is exploring options to trade defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth and would like a second- or third-round pick, both of which Washington currently lacks.
The Redskins signed another defensive tackle, Howard Green, this week, and Carriker can play end or tackle in a 3-4 defense.
The Rams also traded the 163rd overall pick to the Redskins, but they picked up the 135rd selection in the deal, according to a source.

So that makes, what, three now in the last week or so.
