NFL Draft 2010: Five Smartest Picks of the First Round

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/383192-nfl-draft-2010-five-smartest-picks-of-the-first-round#page/5

#2 Maurkice Pouncey (C) - Pittsburgh Steelers

Pouncey moved up draft boards in the weeks leading up to the draft and his selection to the Steelers is a perfect match. The Steelers wanted to get back to emphasizing the run and Pouncey's burst and strength off the line make him a strong run blocker. He also has the quickness and footwork to support against the pass.

Lastly, PounceyŚwho figures to take over for aging center Justin Hartwig in due timeŚcan shift over to guard, where he can play right now. That kind of flexibility made him a wise, safe choice for Pittsburgh.

I've never had a problem with Colbert's early picks. But since everyone thinks this draft is so deep I REALLY want us to get contributors the rest of the draft. Please get it right Colbert !!

I liked seeing the highlights of Pouncey pulling for a run block from the Center position. I miss that action. The Pulling Center was a staple for a while with us. Sure, he'll start at guard, which will be great, shore up the inside a little bit better, but its the run blocking early on that we'll really get to see if this guy is going to be an all time starting Oline great.

I'm pretty fired up with the pick. Solid.

:wink02:

I fixed that for you Prok. Come to think of it, Ben might take less contact playing tackle than QB.

lol

Don't forget the PR aspect either. LT's don't get as much bad media as QB's.

Plus we can only imagine the tackle eligible possibilities BA's "genius mind" can draw up for him.

Not sure if anyone else watched it, but I just watched his interview on Steelers.com and someone asked him if he thinks Woodley will give up #56 and Maurkice's answer was "That ain't happening". :chuckle:
