Eh, i'm not entirely happy. I wanted a CB and another RB to complement Mendy by 3. But it just didn't fall right for us.

Here's hoping we get a RB tomorrow and Lewis and Burnett pan out.

I voted wonderlic because it seemed like the less sucky option. lol

who cares...three years from now is when the grades mattersaying this cliche was going to be the 11th option.

i just have a feeling that after holmes and ben, alot of people needed a really, really, REALLY good draft grade to validate their fandom.

i mean now, not only will other teams call us "rapistburger" but they will also say we suck at the draft.

hell, you would think we just drafted alonzo jackson or something.

Eh, i'm not entirely happy. I wanted a CB and another RB to complement Mendy by 3. But it just didn't fall right for us.

The Steelers pay professionals to scout these players and evaluate talent, and generally they have made a lot better picks over the past decade than most other teams, so I'll just trust they know what they're doing. IMO, though, we should have targeted a CB and RB instead of OLB and WR in the 1st and 2nd. Since the FO didn't pick a CB, I'm guessing a) either the talent wasn't there in this draft, or b) they have a lot of confidence in their mid-round CBs drafted last year. Since they avoided picking a RB, I'll guess they're waiting to pick one in the fourth.

IMO it seems like an excessive risk to depend on our unproven 3rd and 5th round picks. I mean, there's a reason they fell that low. Considering our secondary troubles last year, our most glaring need, it was something I would have definitely addressed in the first two days of the draft this year. But, then again, maybe the talent wasn't there.

At RB, perhaps they have confidence in those other 2 bruisers on the practice squad, most notably that guy who ran over half the defense on that one TD run against Carolina. But, my best guess is they're targeting a guy to take in the 4th tomorrow. Time will tell.

Emmanual continues to confuse me, though. First of all, I don't even know why we picked a WR. Further, Sanders is basically a clone of Stefan Logan, who just takes up a roster spot. I just don't see where Sanders fits into our offense in the long run. In any event, I don't think I'm alone in my thinking this pick was a reach. I would have preferred to have a possession WR like Eric Decker to fill Ward's role or even Andre Roberts. Again, though, I don't get paid to do this, and it's easy to criticize from the couch.

One bright note of the draft as a Steelers fan is that the Brownies passed on Earl Thomas. Lol @ Cleveland.

Remove my hand from my own anal cavity and stop pretending to be a ventriliquist's dummy.

Who wants to listen to a dummy that advocates picking a center in round 1 and an outside linebacker in round 2. That just defies any kind of rational logic. What kind of dummy would spew out that kind of crap. they must be silenced.

Note: I selected Wonderlic because I am intrigued to see what I can score once the artificial intelligence has been removed from my thought canal.

Steelers Not So Good After First Round

Friday, 12:45 p.m.

The easy part of the draft is over the hard part begins tonight. You don’t need to be a football genius to spot first-round talent. The job becomes more difficult after that.

As Mike Vukovcan points out at KDKA.com, the Steelers under director of football operations Kevin Colbert have been ``average to below average’’ after the first round since 2003.

Vukovcan has gone through every draft since 2003 and rated every player. The results are not pretty.

Here's his year-by-year, round-by-round analysis. -- Bob Smizik

What I see is a front office that no longers understands the NFL game as it has evolved. The draft means more to us because we just dont sign FA's. Colbert needs to go, this draft proves it. Its too bad this thread has turned into fans bashing other fans for having an opinion. Aren't we supposed to come to this board with an opinion?

I got to go with move on and live my life. Having children tends do that to a man. Especially when said children don't yet understand the draft. Plus if you're going to train your children to be a fan of the team, you've got to train them to trust the FO.

You do know that right after the 1974 draft, the "experts" graded the Steelers draft a low score, like a D or something, right?

zulater
04-25-2010, 06:20 PM
Once in my life I totally geeked out for the draft. I bought every draft guide I could get my hands on and studied them front to back. On draft day I got to my set early, I watched ever pick with anticipation praying the right guys would fall to the Steelers, and it just so happens that year they did. :tt02: Every pick fell in place perfectly, the Steelers draft was praised by one and all they were set to dominate the league for the next decade!

The year was 1989 the Steelers had two first round picks which they used to pick Tim Worley and Tom Ricketts. I learned not to take myself so seriously soon thereafter. It turns out buying a couple draft guides and subscribing to ESPN insider doesn't make you an expert after all.:flap:

Oh there was a bit of a happy ending to 89 after all though, we did get Carnell Lake in the 3rd.

Where's the option to agree with not getting an A or B, because honestly we aren't even close to either.i created 4 options for panicky thread starters who complain our picks are busts or suck.

strangely enough those 4 options are the ones with 1 or fewer votes.

i figured as much.

i'll just put a vote down for you next to this option- my sense of self worth will be diminished if not validated with draft grades

JSH6487
04-25-2010, 08:11 PM
Right...because you can't criticize the Steelers without being in panic mode, killing yourself, or jumping off a bridge.

Where's the option for "My head is stuck so far up Steelers management ass, that I'd give them an A++++ no matter who they picked" That would have to be your vote.
