A community kerfuffle over school taxes owed by a management company owned by Steelers quarterback Charlie Batch has been resolved with a full payment.

A spokeswoman for BP Management, of Munhall, said any overdue property taxes owed to the Steel Valley School District were paid Tuesday.

A review of unpaid school-tax accounts for Munhall, Homestead and West Homestead, the three communities that make up the Steel Valley district, showed that at least $43,000 had been due on 49 properties for 2009.

BP Management said the full overdue amount was paid as soon as company officials learned some taxes had not been paid.

The issue of back taxes owned to the school district had been discussed several weeks ago at an executive session of the Steel Valley School Board. More recently, residents had raised questions about how much money was owed overall to the district.

Reports on uncollected real estate levies issued by tax collectors in the three communities indicate that about $1.2 million was owed to the district for 2009. The reports on unpaid accounts were obtained this week from the school district under a right-to-know request.

Mr. Batch is a graduate of Steel Valley High School and his mother still lives in the area. He has been active in a variety of youth projects, and he is a popular figure in the community.

His Best of the Batch Foundation in Munhall provides enrichment programs, access to computers, school supplies, field trips and basketball leagues for students in Steel Valley and other Mon Valley communities.

The result says it all. When it was brought to his attention it was taken care of. Nuff said!!!

He'll probably face a 6 game suspension and the patriots* will receive a 3rd round pick in next year's draft.
