I dont know about you,but i see a bit of a log jam at QB. And if we get off to a great start ,then what? I am a firm believer that dixon needs to be in the wings, holding a clipboard, being a bigger part than a 3rd string QB.He needs to feel the flow of the game and id hate to see him slip down the depth chart. Now batch has a contract were happy with and i like him being there for Ben as well as dixon. But byron, what a commodity he becomes if he can lead us through the first four games. How many teams, every year, after four or five games realize they need to make a change at QB? I cant believe we would let him sit to rot on the bench all year ,i could see us getting some good offers for him after paying nothing for him getting him back for a complimentory draft pick. So maybe get a better draft pick back for him? Or shore up another position you think we maybe thin at? Has anybody thought about us really carrying all four QBs for the season ? Please give me your thoughts or senerios i havent given consideration to. THANKS .:blah:

I really hope who starts plays well. I also hope that when Ben gets back from suspension that he can play excellent. It would be good for Dennis to start because it would be more experience, but Byron has plenty of it. I don't see Batch starting any of the games. I just can't wait till Ben comes back and starts playing.

Batch is a nice guy but his balls float more than hope. I really wish he would retire and they would give him some kind of coacing job with a clipboard for the season.

I'd like to see Dixon start but I'm OK with Leftwich starting so long as he can have touch and not bullet everything. I'd like the Starter to be declared by the start of preseason.

As for the future. I think Leftwich knows by now he will be a future back up wherever he goes. he had multiple chaces to be a starter with multiple teams. He is older now. The problem is I don't see him being a number 3 emergency QB. This means a decision has to be made on Dixon.

If Dixon can't step up now, he will never be able to step up. Ideally, he would play well, be tendered as a RFA and traded next year and Leftwich would realise he is past his prime and be happy to be the back up.

bubby brister guided the broncos to a 4-0 stretch in their final championship season, but as soon as elway was healthy he came back in and guided the team to a superbowl.

same case here.

Are you saying Byron Leftwich is the next Errol Morral?

Ha we won't go 4-0 or 3-1. At best we go 2-2!
And thats if Ben makes the Commish happy.

The Steelers haven't started off 4-0 since 1978. I don't think that situation is going to come up this year.

I don't think it's going to matter who the QB is very much to be honest. It's going to look like some old school Noll/Cowher football with a very heavy dose of the run game.

Lefty is a very good backup. But behind our offensive line (which gave up 9 FREAKING SACKS TO THE CLEVELAND EFFING BROWNS), it's going to be trying to get him in a manageable second/third down situations to covert. Air it out every once-in-a-while, but stick to the run game.

Same thing goes for Dixon and Batch. Though with Dixon we might see some option thrown in there too.

We would proceed as always with Ben? Why would anything change? Opinions about leftwich might rise, but that's all

Exactly. Ben is the two time Super Bowl QB. Ben is being paid as the franchise QB. Ben is the STARTING QUARTERBACK of the PITTSBURGH STEELERS when he returns from his suspension.

If Lefty does well in those games, maybe we will get a decent draft pick in return for him.
