View Full Version : 2004 NFL DRAFT....How it should've gone down(TOP 10 PICKS)

03-31-2005, 10:25 AM
1)-Chargers: WR Roy Williams....

Knowing what the Chargers know now, they didn't need Phillip Rivers....They needed a playmaking WR which Roy Williams brings to the table. The only thing the Chargers need offensively is a weapon in the open.....Antonio Gates and Roy Williams COULD HAVE been a huge and deadly combination

2)-Raiders: Ben Roethlisberger

The Raiders biggest need in '04 wasn't offensive lineman, it was a QB. Kerry Collins was often inconsistent and Big Ben would have provided a huge boost of confidence to this offense.....Imagine Big Ben and Randy Moss on the same team

3)-Cardinals: Eli Manning

The Cards didn't need a WR....They had Anquan Boldin and Bryant Johnson. They needed a QB and Eli Manning would love to be with Denny Green. Manning could have had two deadly Wideouts but the Cards went their seperate ways.....

4)-Giants: Robert Gallery

The Giants biggest need in 2004 was offensive line....Kurt Warner was doing surprisingly well but the offensive line just wouldn't prevail. Eli was not the need, Gallery was and the Giants missed on a franchise left tackle.

5)-Redskins: Michael Clayton

SLEEPER OF THE DRAFT!!! Speed, hands and confidence is what he brings to the table. Clayton would have complimented Laverneaus Coles perfectly....Ramsey to Coles and Ramsey to Clayton could have been a deadly combo...

03-31-2005, 10:26 AM
6)-Lions: Sean Taylor

Previosuly drafting Charles Rogers, WR wasn't the issue howver defense was. Sean Taylor has earned a reputation for his bone crunching hits, something the Lions do not bring on defense....

7)-Browns: Phillip River

Tight Ends should not go 6th overall however QBS....Thats a different story....The Browns lacked a franchise QB and Phillip Rivers would have given Browns fans something to cheer about *SIGH*

8)-Falcons: Larry Fitzgerald

Mike Vick has lacked a top nocth WR his whole career. Fitzgerald would have brought size and determination to this underachieving WR core. IF ONLY....

9)-Jaguars: Dunta Robinson

Led the league in INTS with 5, has KNOCKOUT SPEED. As fast as any WR in the NFL, also brings size....He could have been what the Jags needed....A Cornerback.....

10)-Texans: Kellen Winslow

Tight Ends should never go higher then this. Ask Rickey Dudley. The Texans have an all-star young offense and Winslow would have been the last piece to the puzzle. Size, strength and hands like a WR, WInslow could have been great with H-Twon....

03-31-2005, 06:15 PM
11)-Steelers: DeAngelo Hall

The Steelers needed a CB and Tommy Maddux could have led this team into the postseason simply because of the defense and running game....DeAngelo is fast and a potential shut down corner.

12)-Jets: Jonathon Vilma

Nothing changed about this pick. Jonathon really helped out this defense and was defensive rookie of the year. Tremendous player alright showing potential.

13)-Bills: Lee Evans

Showed his stuff late in the year and he is the apprentice to Eric Moulds. A fast-as-hell WR who will make you pay with press coverage. Let him grow a bit and he could be better then his mentor.

14)-Bears: Reggie Williams

He was an underachiever his rookie year but the Bears desperately needed a WR. Their defense was already good and Tommie Harris barely played. Reggie could have thrived with Rex Grossman at the helm.

15)-Buccanneers: Kevin Jones

They need him, and he should have been selected a lot higher. Kevin showed tremendous productivity his rookie year and the Bucs haven't had a good RB since Warrick Dunn.

16)-Eagles: Shawn Andrews

Nothing changed, the DE market wasn't strong in the '04 draft and they needed a stud Tackle which Stacy Andrews is quickly becoming. He's a beast that will plow massive holes for anyone.

17)-Broncos: Tommie Harris

Played in Chicago as a backup during 2004, dont know much about Harris. The Broncs have stooped so low as Gerrard Warren so drafting Harris couldnt have been much worse.

18)-Saints: Ahmad Carrol

For those of you that don't know this CB, he's as fast as DeAngelo Hall. THATS FAST!!! Put up good numbers for being a nickel and dime back in '04, the Saints pass defense was 32nd in '04 so they shouldve taken Carrol.

03-31-2005, 06:16 PM
19)-Dolphins: Stephen Jackson

Dreads, remind you of anyone? If the Fins knew that Ricky would leave, they would have taken a running back and Stephen Jackson is just like Ricky Williams. Not as fast but has tremendous strength and could have plowed through anyone. If the Fins would have taken Jackson, Dave Wannstedt might still have a job.

20)-Vikings: D.J Williams

D.J is from "DA U" so that right their tells you he's good. Terrific spped for an OLB and has great heart. A bit quiet in '04, played for Denver. The Vikings needed LBs and they should have taken one. This kid would have helped this defense greatly.

21)-Patriots: Chris Gamble

Tied for most INTs in '04 this kid was so underrated! The Pats needed a ton of help at CB and Gamble would've been a stud alongside Asante Samuel. Gamble brings size and is very physical. Not the fastest CB but has enough speed to get around.

22)-Bills: J.P Losthman

Nothing different. Parting ways with Drew Bledsoe means this pick just might pay off. Injured most of the year we'll see if this cocky kid will prove to be worthy of the 22nd pick.

23)-Sehawks: Kenechi Udeze

The Seahawks were in a world of hurt in '04 when it cames to defensive ends. Udeze brings great speed to hurt you on the outside. Udeze and Wistrom would have been a monstrous pass rush and might have launched the 'Hawks into the second round of the playoffs.

03-31-2005, 06:18 PM
24)-Rams: Will Smith

The Rams needed all the defensive help they could get and Will Smith would have been a great defensive end along side Leonard Little. Smith has decent size and decent speed but his gritty determination and great work ethics is what puts him over the top. The Rams needed a pass rusher and he is just that.

25)-Packers: Madieu Williams

Yup, Bengals fans know this name pretty well. A potential playmaker, Williams is a ballhawk who will hit you in the mouth. Not known for speed but he is faster then most think, can cover if needed. The Packers needed an all-pro saftey and Williams could be just that.

26)-Bengals: Ben Troupe

Many don't know the name but hes going to be big. The 3rd fastest TE in the NFL only to Kellen Winslow and Ben Gates. Troupe had a decent year in '04 but the Titans run a spread offense which makes the TE the odd man out. The Bengals offense is already explosive and Troupe wouldve compliment the Bengals Receiving core greatly.

27)-Texans: Michael Boulware

Just like his brother Peter, Michael is a terrific tackler. Can make you pay when you go over the middle with his bone crunching hits. Also faster then most think, he will cover and has great hands. The Texans needed a Safety and Boulware would have been that guy.

03-31-2005, 06:26 PM
28)-Panthers: Ben Watson

The fastest TE in the game today Watson was put on IR during the preseason. Watson is a receiving TE not a blocker....The Cats needed a TE to compliment Steve Smith and Watson would have fit great.

29)-Falcons: Michael Jenkins

A fast WR, he chews up and spits out slow CBs. Didnt stand out in '04 but mark my words, this kid will be grow into a star. Maybe not a #1 WR but he is capable of being a star. The Falcons biggest need was WR and they drafted him anyways...

30)-Detroit: Rashaun Woods

HERE YA GO WALTER! THE WR YOU ASKED FOR! Rashuan has the speed of Mike Williams(USC) so he's not very fast. A go-up-and-get-it type of WR hes a great red zone threat. Not yet capable of #1 duties quite yet but the Lions needed a WR.

31)-49ers: Chris Perry

Kevin Barlow turned out to be a bust. An average around 3.3 yards per carry, he sucked to be plain. Perry is decently fast but he was injured during most of the '04 season.

32)-Patriots: Vince Wilfork

He was taken by the Pats in '04 but about 10 spots earlier. Didnt play much but hes fast as hell for a DT. The Pats needed a DT with the departure of Ted Washington and he's that guy.

Hey, it's the offseason Chef! I think it was a good write-up

04-01-2005, 11:35 PM
yeah but it would be great if the teams knew all of that stuff, like chargers knowing phillip rivers wasn't gonna make a difference or the raiders knowing ben was gonna be that good. if everybody knew that stuff then the draft would be boring.

but damn, that took alot of research, props :D

04-01-2005, 11:48 PM
I aim to please :D

04-01-2005, 11:51 PM
Didn't mean to be hard on you BKA, just saying that 18 or so teams had a chance on Randy Moss too. Then every time he caught a TD people said the same thing, oh if only we had known, then every time he hit a lady traffic cop in his car, they would say see we knew...and it goes on and on. If you take who you take and don't dwell on what coulda, shoulda, woulda then you will like it better. Appreciate what you have, not what you don't.
