Since I can no longer post any of Wexell's articles on here, I'm going to write my own version important OTA parts just to keep everyone updated (note: these are my own words and not Jim Wexells) . I will not be adding any of his opinions, just summarizing the plays. If you want to see his analysis, I recommend joining his paysite.
OTA #5
Special Teams
- Reed schooled the other kickoff specialists Piotr Czech and Adam Graessle, having much better hangtime and distance on his kicks. On each of them, he was able to backup returnmen Logan, Wallace, Burnett and Brown either inside the 10 or at the goal line.
First Scrimmage
-Much like the previous two OTAs, Leftwich and Wallace continued to gel as Byron came out throwing darts to his sure-handed receiver. He also threw a beam Tyler Grisham, who juked his way for a big gain.
-Dixon only received a single snap and found the big man, fullback Demetrius Taylor, along the sideline.
Second Scrimmage
First Team
-Mendenhall uncharacteristically dropped a pass in the hurry up drill that raised eyebrows
-Leftwich underthrew a wide-open Mike Wallace who blew past cornerback Anthony Madison, but drew a flag anyway as Madison made contact
-Battle made a couple of difficult catches, as the impressed Leftwich yelled “good snag, Hands, good snag.”
-With little time left, Leftwich threw another laser low and away to Wallace, who amazingly pulled it in with his left hand for the touchdown.
Second Team
-The second team offense did not fare nearly as well as Dixon continued to struggle.
-After Dixon threw a first down to WR Antonio Brown, he was nearly intercepted by former Raven cornerback David Pittman on a quick out to Matt Spaeth which should have gone for a pick 6.
-A few plays later, Dixon was eventually intercepted by 5th round pick Crezdon Butler, on an underthrown play.
