ASK THE STEELERS Ė JONATHAN DWYER Ė PART 1

Steelers.com brings you the Ask the Steelers feature. Fans submitted the questions that were asked. Please understand that we receive an incredible number of questions for each player, with many of the questions being similar, and not all of the questions can be answered. We selected as many as possible, and took your questions to the current subject to get your answers.

Robbie Lloyd in Canada asks: What was the feeling like watching the draft and waiting for a team to call you, especially since the draft lasted three days?
Jonathan Dwyer: It was an emotional process. You feel excitement because you know itís going to happen and I will be able to live my dream of playing in the National Football League.

Christina BelŪo in El Paso, Texas asks: How did you feel when you were picked by the Steelers?
Jonathan Dwyer: At first when I got the phone call I didnít know who it was. I was just excited to receive the phone call. When I heard it was Mr. (Art) Rooney, Mr. (Kevin) Colbert and Coach (Mike) Tomlin I knew who it was and I was excited because itís a good team and a good organization to be a part of.

Neil Fitzgerald in Kildare, Ireland: Being drafted in the sixth round is an honor, but at the same time you must have thought you deserved a higher round. How will this affect your mindset entering the season?
Jonathan Dwyer: It doesnít really affect it. I am just happy to have the opportunity to play at the next level and am glad that I have a team that believes in me as a player and person. Of course I think I should have gone higher, but it just makes me hungrier and want to prove everyone wrong. I want the Steelers organization to know they had a great pick and wonít regret it.

Deb Potter in Arizona asks: Steelers fans are glad you lasted until the sixth-round, but why do you think that you did?
Jonathan Dwyer: Maybe because of the offense that I came from and probably because I didnít have the greatest combine performance. I had a broken toe so I wasnít 100% and didnít perform at my highest capability.

Tony Cangey in Huntington Beach, California asks: How do you feel you can complement the Steelers backfield with Rashard Mendenhall andMewelde Moore?
Jonathan Dwyer: I can be all different types of a back, the complete back that everybody wants. If they need me to be the third down guy and catch the ball I can do that. If anyone goes down, all three of us can contribute. It will be great as a unit to have everyone fresh and healthy. It can be a great three-headed monster.

Carlos Lezama Lugo from Mexico City asks: What strengths do you bring to the Steelers organization?
Jonathan Dwyer: Durability, physicality and deceptive breakaway speed.

I am still amazed that we picked up such a great talent like Jonathan Dwyer in the 6th round. There is no doubt in my mind that he will be the best steal of the 2010 draft! I can't wait to see what he does in training camp.
