Coming off a strong finish and that win at Martinsville, and a growing repoire with Letarte on the box, odds are good NASCAR's best driver collects his 5th Cup in '06.

Also, everyone's favorite driver, Kurt Busch, is driving the #2 Miller Lite car this year.

That 8 car is looking strong in Bud Shootout practice. :cool: I hope DEI can get their restrictor plate dominance back this year. Jr and Truex will be two awesome teammates.

Jr. will be back in form with Eury back in the saddle, and Truex will do whatever Jr's says (at least for this year) at the restrictor plate tracks, unlike Mike Waltrip.

Only about 40 minutes until NASCAR season starts. Nice. Not even a full 7 days between the end of football season and the beginning of racing...I love it!

Not even a full 7 days between the end of football season and the beginning of racing...I love it! 70 hrs of speedweeks coverage on the speed channel is definitely like methadone for a football addict! looks like gordon is having a tough time making it through inspection. jr. isnt expecting to qualify better than 25th. k. bush driving rustys car is gonna kill me but there is no way i can root against my favorite car, of 13 years. i just wish they would bring back mgd and the steelers colors. very interresting to see b. labonte in richard pettys 43. this could be a turning point for that team. infact kyle is a darkhorse to do real well in qualifying according to yesterdays practice.

Elliott Sadler 35-1 holy cow there are some great odds there. i would easilly put $10 on harvick, jarrett, newman, b. labonte, waltrip, johnson, and j. burton.

With Labonte's experience I would definatley consider putting some money down on him... Petty program in general looks a hell of a lot better. Also Jarrett just knocked Jimmie off the front row

I saw my boy Matt Kenseth got a flat right when he crossed the start/finish to start his quallifying lap... he got a DNF. Not a good start to the season. :frown:

Definatley not a good start, to bad he couldnt try to wave it off since it was too late. He never seems to qualify well anyway... I wouldnt be worried if I were you

He didn't start off to well last season, but he really came in the end. He was even moving up in the chase until the flat at Dega...

Yeah Matt is a strong finisher..the second half of the season he comes on like a bat outta hell ! but sometimes the gap is just too much to overcome so here's to a big year for 17 :cheers:

Who woulda thunk rookie Denny Hamlin would win the Bud Shootout and $200,000? Wow! He should be kissing Smoke's feet tonight after the way Smoke helped him out...(lol). My man Jimmie came in 5th. I'll take it, I guess. Gordon helped him out a lot today, which was nice, but Gordon had a pretty rough day himself. He sure did have a lot of problems both during qualifying for the Daytona 500, as well as during the Bud Shootout, but I'm sure he will be ready to go next Sunday being in the 2nd spot.

Speaking of Smoke... Would someone please tell Big Ben to give that guy one of those Gillette Fusion razors? Good lord... Smoke is a mess. He really needs to clean himself up. He looks like a slob...(lol).

I agree. He's a hothead, although he has toned that down since about mid-season last year. Smoke is my brother-in-law's fave driver. Drives me nuts...(lol).

I just saw on ESPN that Jimmie Johnson and Terry Labonte's qualifying attempts were disallowed. Jimmie aparently had a template problem. At least its the 500 so they just have to start the qualifying races at the back which is no big deal... Let's go 48! Also kudos to Hamlin on his shootout win!

we seem to have a nice little nascar following here. maybe we should do something like pick the playoffs for the daytona 500.

for instance everybody try to pick the 5 drivers who will finish 1-5. points are awarded according to the finish position.
1st=1
2nd=2
3rd=3 and so forth.
whoever scores the lowest point total wins.

or going off the odds you posted everybody has $100 in hypothetical cash to bet on 1-10 drivers. you could put 50 on kyle petty and 50 on kyle bush. or you could put 10 on 10 favorites, or put it all on a longhsot etc. whoever has the winner and places the most on them to win, wins. if noone picks the winner, whoever picks the highest finisher and puts the most money on them wins.

I like the idea of the odds but it would be pretty hard with 5 or more people to keep track of all the bets and doing the calculations... The first way is much simpler and easier to do but the second way is a little more fun I would say

(Yay! for 500 Posts)

BB2 started a yahoo fantasy league, and that's still the best and easiest way to do this. I've been playing for a few years, and I like the format a lot. Word of warning: If you are playing a different leage, your team keeps the same drivers you select for all leagues.
