i say definatly. if he played for a team that used him more he would be in the probowl every single year and would be known as the best TE in the game. we really need to start using him the way the chargers use gonzalez or the way indy uses clark

OH YES! If we used him the way other teams use theres, ala clark, gonzalas he would
be in the prowl bowl every year. But he should be now!!! Why? Because he plays the TE
position , i say the position!!!!!! for anybody voteing for these other guys who cant play
the position but catch more passes. Or was every coach i ever had wrong when he
said the TE has to block once in a while too??????

Dallas Clark and Antonio Gates are essentially just an extra WR. They are great at what they do, but they're not truly tight ends. Guys like Heath and Jason Witten are true all around tight ends.
But yea Miller has great hands, and I don't ever think the offense will use him enough to satisfy the fans

well you still havent answered, best hands? you did however agree
with me that some guys that line up at TE arnt true TEs . So that narrows
the field. On short and 3rd do they take you out? On goline do you go to
the bench? Then you are not a PRO BOWL TIGHT END!!!!!!!

I would say yes to best hands, but I haven't watched Witten, Clark and the rest play enough to be a fair judge. I do know that Miller only occasionally missed a ball that came his way last year.

Yea I would easily eliminate Gates, Clark, Davis etc. from the best tight end discussion because everyone knows they're primarily receivers.

To me, Miller and Witten are the best pure tight ends in the league.
I like Zach Miller too---he was a good preformer on an abysmal oakland offense, who knows what he could do in the passing game with a good QB. Celek is true tight end as well, and has a lot of potential. The main thing that is stopping Miller from getting the probowl nod is that he rarely breaks "the big one" if you know what I mean, he just isn't that fast, although he does haul in a good amount of 20+ yard catches. If he was used better in the redzone I'm such he could have a few more TDs as well.

If you want to try to compare TEs with the greatest hands, Miller is definitely in the mix. But I rarely see Gates drop anything that is anywhere near him. So I think he has better hands but he is NOT a better all around TE because he goes out on almost every play as a third WR. I am not sure he should even be included in a list of TEs. Heath Miller is my favorite Steeler and I think Arians needs to get his head out and use him more this year with Holmes out of the mix. Unfortunately Miller has to stay in and block most of the time because our O-line is so pathetic. Hopefully the O-line will get better (wishful thinking) so Miller will get more catches.

You are wrong my friend......Vernon Davis is a tremendous blocker.

I so agree. I am hoping to see Heath used more along with run game this year.

Just read in The Tribune that Arians plans to use Miller on deeper routes this year. Seems like a pipe dream, right? If he's not back there helping this line block, then he's not gonna have enough time to get deep down field, right? Am I missing something?

the 49ers tight end vernon davis is the best TE, look at what QB throws to him...
