Does anyone have any information on when the Super Bowl Champion Steelers (man it feels great to say that) will be visiting the White House, as announced in the Post-Gazette? Will the ceremony be open to the public? I'm sorry if there has already been a thread about this, but I could not find it and I'm new to the Board.

No, I'm talking about the idiots that are in the white house now. This isn't the place for political discussions anyways...

nice attempt at a twist though...

Regardless of your politics, and who is or isn't in the White House, it's still a great honor.

(And it's incredibly inappropriate to bring political shit into this post)

Tradition is not politics. Please, Dom, let's not do this here. The President of the Country meeting with the Pittsburgh Steelers will be a great honor for both...

Hey all,
Didn't start this post for a political discussion (and I studied politics in college and I am in law school at the moment). This is White House standard procedure, not a political gimmick on the part of W. The White Sox were honored there just yesterday. I dislike Bush and his cronies as much as anyone, but I think it is a tremendous honor to go to the White House and I am happy that he's not getting a return visit from the Patriots.

I think I'll call the Steelers office to get more information, and then I'll pass it along to yinz.

I agree 100%. Strange how a simple question about the National Champions visiting the White House (which is done every year no matter what party or team) can turn into a political debate.

i remember being pissed at mark chmura TE-gb for not wanting to go during the clinton admin. id be pissed if any steeler raised a stink about going during this admin. it is an honor even if barney the dog is the only one there.

I don't know if the Steelers visit will be different, but when the Longhorns were at the White House yesterday there was a press conference where W spoke with the team behind him. Not sure if this is standard, or if it happened because the Longhorns are from Texas.
