View Full Version : Tailgating for Preaseason games

I go to 3 or 4 regular season games a year but this will be my first preseason game where I'll be able to tailgate. Problem is, looking through the tailgate subforum I don't see anyone talking about having one for the Lions game. I know it's going to be a slightly different atmosphere being a preseason game but will there still be tailgating? Also, do the gates open at a different time for a preseason game?

I was also looking for a tailgaiting party for the 8/14 pre season game but haven't seen anyone saying they are having one yet. Maybe people don't tail gait at preseason games?? Will keep checking back though.

Looks like no tailgaiting for pre season games. Will have to meet and greet at one of the bars, I guess! Correct me if I'm wrong..heard..McFaddens' and Bettis's (between PNC and Heinz on the Strip), Firewaters, SoHo's and Station Square (across the river). Any others I should consider? Thanks.

I guess we'll hit a bar in station square since we will be parking there and taking the boat over.

I'm not familiar with Pittsburgh at all..this will be my first time there. Not sure where Station Square is. Can't seem to find any one that will be tailgaiting..was looking forward to it but oh well. You seem to be way more knowedgeable that I am about the city..exactlly where is Station Square? Taking a boat? Wow..didn't know you could do that either. Where do you park in Station Square? Might try that apporach next time I'm out there. Thanks for the info. I've never been and driving in from Maryland tomorrow. Guess I'll get a better feel for the city, Heintz Field, parking for Heintz and tailgait parties tomorrow. Got the names of the bars from another post I found..but have no clue where they are located.

Oh no, please excuse my typo..I must be tired. It's Heinz......not Heintz..yikes..how could I get that wrong?

I usually park at station square and take one of the gateway clipper boats to the stadium. Its right across the river, takes about 10 minutes or less to get there and they drop you off right at the steps of the stadium. I think its $10 to park and $5 each way on the boat. For me its just easier to get out of station square's parking lot with less traffic. Most of the parking around the stadium is either reserved or cost about $50. I think most of the bars you a talking about is on the other side of PNC Park.

You could park at the River's Casino parking garage for free.
