View Full Version : Broncos Offensive Line to Continue Shuffle vs. Steelers

The Broncos offensive line remains in a state of flux heading into Sunday night's exhibition game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Coach Josh McDaniels said Friday that there would be some shuffling of personnel, particularly at left guard and left tackle, as part of an attempt to settle on a starting lineup heading into the Sept. 12 regular season opener at Jacksonville.

Though rookie Zane Beadles, a second-round pick out of Utah, has had the bulk of the first team reps at left guard, McDaniels said the team would rotate in Stanley Daniels while the first-team offense was still on the field to get a feel for how he handles the position while playing against the opposition's best.NFL jerseys (http://www.andjersey.com)

"It's a competitive situation," McDaniels said. "There have been no decisions made on who's our starting left guard. I think this just means both players are competing very hard to be that player.

"They're both young guys that are in the first year of our system. Hopefully, the winner of that job will play well, and the player who may not have that job at the beginning of the season, hopefully he continues to push and compete to try to continue to take that job away. I think that will only make both players better."

Beadles also will rotate in at left tackle, along with D'Anthony Batiste, who has taken most of the first team repetitions in the absence of Ryan Clady.

Clady, who earned a trip to the Pro Bowl for his excellence at left tackle, just returned to practice earlier this week after being sidelined by a partially torn patellar tendon suffered in a pickup basketball game last spring. The Broncos are hopeful that Clady will be ready to play in the regular season opener, though it remains iffy whether he'll be able to shoulder the workload for an entire game, at least early in the season.wholesale nfl jerseys (http://www.nflwholesalejerseys.com)

Beadles and Batiste are battling for the top backup spot at tackle.

Also, it remains uncertain whether rookie quarterback Tim Tebow (ribs), or running backs Correll Buckhalter and LenDale White (ankle) will be available for the Pittsburgh game, though they all returned to practice this week. Tebow missed last Saturday's preseason game against Detroit, and Buckhalter and White have yet to make their preseason debuts.

"I'd love to say that both of those guys (Buckhalter and White) could play (against Pittsburgh)," said McDaniels. "But I'm not going to do that, because if it's not the smart thing to do on Sunday night, we're going to make sure we're doing the best thing for the team. Tebow, the same thing. He's sore, but if we feel like it's not going to set him back, then he'll play on Sunday night."
