Canadian hockey...gone...no medal....

Russia 2 Canada 0

Not a happy day to be in canada...they must be absolutely homicidal up there...

Maybe they coulda used some of the young guns like Crosby and Staal, eh?

Ovechkin and Malkin sure seemed right at home there.....

I was happy to see the Canadians go home. There's no telling how they would have done if Sidney Crosby was in uniform, but in my humble opinion, I think he's the difference between going home and a medal. 87 should have been on the roster.

On a happy note, the Czechs have advanced by beating Slovakia 3-1. That team is starting to play up to its potential, and should give Sweden a tough fight for the gold medal game.

Putting in two or three players like Crosby, Stall and Spezza was not going to be the difference. Their was no chemistry. Their no was no speed on the back end. And their was no true superstar on this team that could grab the bull by the horns.

To get shut out three times is a joke. When you put on that Maple Leaf jersey, you give it your all. Alot of these players didn't show up when it mattered.

Canada will be back. We have the talent pool to rebuild this team quick. But don't add no more junk like Doan, Draper, Thornton and Bertuzzi next time. More speed and more creative players should be picked, not grinders.

Wouldnt that be Crosby, Staal, and Spezza????

All three will be in there in 2010. But they were not the players that Canada needed in 2006. There was enough young guys on this team already.

I agree that having all three would have helped.

Foote, Pronger, Sakic, Blake?

A lil long in the tooth for 7 games in 10 nights...or whatever it was...

Same with USA...Chelios, Hatcher, Tcachuk....

Funny part with Chelios, many of the players on the team stated that he played better than anybody on that roster and the guy is 44 years old.

I would say 3 of the 4 will not be there. If I had to put money on it, Joe Sakic will be back from that list as the 2010 games are in Vancouver (he is from Burnaby, BC which is right next door to Vancouver).

Foote, Blake and Pronger looked like pilons out there.

Maybe, maybe not. But he was referring to these olympics, not 2010.

I dunno...seems like the way they have this Olympic tournament scheduled....young is better...these older vets...play like 2-3 games a week in the NHL...and sit out occasional games....

In my humble...USA and Canada seem to view the Olympic selections as lifetime achievement awards....I guarantee if Brian Leetch wasnt hurt..he would have went...same with Lemeiux...

I'm not sure about Lemieux. He publicly stated he wanted to give the younger guys a shot and that even when he was healthy he felt he was not playing up to the standards and level that he should be playing.

This arguement holds no water. Sweden won it with Sundin, Forsberg, Lindstrom and Alfredsson. These guys are not spring chickens.

Good point...I though Finland would mop the ice with Sweden. Shows how much I know about hockey!

Just as bad as us, they use NHLers also. That's why.

Got us back? We never did anything to them in hockey. They got owned all on their own by Russia and Finland.

I think all of Canada's issues where due to the issues that where brought on by there coach
