i thought this was a joke, but it appears serious. really though, what are they afraid of? his hair burning down in a fire? getting hit by a truck? a farming equipment disaster? getting sucked into the turbine of a jet?

Shampoo brand Head & Shoulders announced today that it is taking out a $1 million insurance policy on Steelers safety Troy Polamalu's trademark hair.

Polamalu is a spokesman for the brand.

"Head & Shoulders has gone above and beyond this year by insuring my Samoan locks for a cool $1 million," Polamalu said in a news release from the company.

"In developing this unique policy, we recognize that Troy Polamalu's famed head of hair is truly legendary and we are proud to partner with head & shoulders to protect it," said Jonathan Thomas of Watkins Syndicate at Lloyd's of London.

Maybe this? :noidea:

Seriously though, it's a publicity stunt. And a good one too. They attention they'll get out of this will more than pay for the policy.

I read if he loses over 66% of his hair this season he can collect the money. Bring back LJ for a pay day!

I'm diggin it, good publicity for a fine shampoo that has helped many a persons long lustrous locks

If Lloyds of London can insure Keef Richards fingers (gawd knows where they've been) then they can certainly insure Troys hair!

Damn, I've personally been blessed with thick good hair, but I've never have achieved volume like that. :chuckle:

I know you're joking, but I read the only time he actually wears his hair down is during games.

I personally wish he'd stuff it all up in his helmet since he's often really reckless when leading with his head on tackles and it would probably add some much needed cushion.

He's had quite a few concussions too. I feel for the wives and mothers of the players. Hell, just as a fan I'm nervous for these guys.

I'm actually serious lol! Here is the article: http://www.examiner.com/athlete-style-in-national/troy-polamalu-43-of-the-pittsburgh-steelers-has-hair-insured-for-1-million

"Troy Polamalu hasn't had a haircut, not even a trim, for eight years. He has a 45-minute pre-game haircare routine. "

The hair in the photo is a WIG! Read the article.

Also, the $1 million insurance only applies to events that happen on the field; this amounts to nothing more than a great publicity stunt by Head and Shoulders.

:sofunny: Yeah, I figured that...though I'm sure with a little mousse and hairspray, he could easily achieve that look lol.

If Diana Ross can do it...why not Troy? :chuckle:
