Martin Restructures Contract

Bills Designate Clements as Franchise Player
Buffalobills.com reports the Buffalo Bills (http://www.kffl.com/team/9/nfl) have designated CB Nate Clements (http://www.kffl.com/player/167/nfl) as the team's franchise player. "We consider Nate a valuable member of our defense and believe he will play an important role in re-establishing out defense as one of the toughest units in the league," said Bills (http://www.kffl.com/team/9/nfl) general manager Marv Levy. "At the same time, we remain optimistic that we will be able to work out a long-term deal with Nate in the foreseeable future."
Chiefs Have Spot for Holmes
Elizabeth Merrill, of the Kansas City Star (http://www.kffl.com/link/142), reports Kansas City Chiefs (http://www.kffl.com/team/21/nfl) RB Priest Holmes (http://www.kffl.com/player/993/nfl) will have a spot on the Chiefs' roster, according to team president/general manager Carl Peterson. "He's earned that right," said Peterson, who wanted Holmes to know his status with the team, regardless of the salary cap and that RB Larry Johnson (http://www.kffl.com/player/5896/nfl) has been declared the starter for 2006. Holmes is expected to undergo testing within the next week to determine if he's neurologically sound.
Chiefs Will Wait for Owens' Release
Elizabeth Merrill, of the Kansas City Star (http://www.kffl.com/link/142), reports Kansas City Chiefs (http://www.kffl.com/team/21/nfl) general manager Carl Peterson said Tuesday, Feb. 21, that the team will not have an interest in Philadelphia Eagles (http://www.kffl.com/team/29/nfl) WR Terrell Owens (http://www.kffl.com/player/1608/nfl) until he is released from the team in March. Peterson added that it might be a long shot to get Owens and his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, to agree to a one-year, incentive-laden deal.
