Kip Wells may not be able to go this season...

That would basically end any slim chance we had

LOL, as expected. That's one pitcher down. Who's next? It just wouldn't be right to start a Pirate season with at least two Pirate pitcher's out.

Good idea, and when the season starts, put him in the same bubble after a bad game so he doesn't decide to kick anything.

That incident was right up there with the old Redskins QB hurting his neck head butting the wall

We should have canned him long ago any way.

Are you kidding? He was a bum the last two seasons! We should have got rid of him when we had a chance. Look at these stats for 2004 @ 2005:

G GS CG SHO IP H R ER HR BB SO W L SV HLD BLSV ERA
2004 Pit 24 24 0 0 138.1 145 71 70 14 66 116 5 7 0 0 -- 4.55
2005 Pit 33 33 1 1 182.0 186 116 103 23 99 132 8 18 0 0 -- 5.09

These are not the kind of pitching stats that would of given aus a chance. I like our chances better without Wells. Granted, we are short a starting pitcher, but why not bring up another young arm if you are going to have a guy with stats like Wells has been putting up?

With Wells our average age of the SP was 24, we are way too young. If you think that we can get there with a pitching staff this young you're sadly mistaken. Our problem in the past years has been consistency. we can play .500 ball but then we hit a stretch and win 3-4 games in the span of 2 weeks. If we have one more injury and we will have a staff that doesnt include a guy that had pitched an entire major league season!! We need Wells healthy. After his hand issues he never got his confidence back and Spin Williams couldnt do anything about it. With a new pitching coach he obviuosly had a chance to come back.

I agree that we need a healthy Wells, and the Wells of 2002-2003. I just didn't see it happening even with a new pitching coach. Everything you said Dan was correct. I just don't believe Wells would of returned to form. That is the only point I was trying to make.

Without Wells we might be out of it in May!
