View Full Version : Dixon makes me nervous

Everytime he dropped back to pass.

With him wearing #10, I was having Kordell flashbacks the whole game. When you look at his stat line, it doesn't look too bad. But he missed some wide open receivers on short passes and threw right to defenders who dropped INT's other times. This game could have been a disaster.

To me it looked like he was aiming the ball instead of slinging it. Kind of like throwing darts instead of a football. He also seems like he can be baited into making a bad decision. I don't think he ever saw that defender drop into the zone on the INT. Same type of thing last year against Baltimore. I don't think he so much underthrew those passes. I think he never saw the defenders playing zone.

Let's hope this week is improved. I don't think the Titans will let him off the hook so easy.

Thought he did well for what he was given. I really wish BA would have rolled himout more!

Exactly AND starting only his 2nd NFL game. Why guys expect this kid to play like Manning is a mystery to me.

That's what I was thinking! Roll him out give him a run option.
Maybe even a wildcat with Randel El lined up at QB

Dixon admitted he was nervous and excited, and was aiming the ball, that would account for the pic and the throws in the dirt. The deep ball to Wallace was a thing of beauty. That type of pass should be called more often.
The gameplan seemed to keep him in the pocket and throw short to intermediate passes. The Falcons defense was waiting on the short throws. Hopefully we will see some roll outs and deeper throws this week at titans, I don't believe any one can cover Wallace deep so that should be there.
IMO Dixon will be just fine and lead us to at least a 3-1 record by the bye week!!

I have as well.. all preseason too. And for more reasons than just the number. He reminds me of the Kordell that wanted to be the quarterback but was better when he played running back..

That deep pass though was nice.. It also looked like he barely even threw it yet it sailed. He definitely has an arm and you never know.. Maybe he just needs more time behind the wheel. Most likely in 3 more games we'll never know..

while you guys are focused on the 8 incompletions dixon had instead of the 18 completions he did have for 237 yds ( 69% ) ... take a looksy around the league at what some of the qb's with more than 2 games experience did...

Trent Edwards
18/34 139 yds
Matt Moore
14/33 182 yds
Matt Cassel
10/22 68 yds
Jake Delhomme
20/37 227 yds
Chad Henne
21/34 182 yds
Brett Favre
15/27 171
Joe Flacco
20/38 248 yds
Shaun Hill
9/19 88 yds
Jason Campbell
22/37 180 yds
Donovan McNabb
15/32 171
Mark Sanchez
10/21 74

now that is what we call... perspective.

i cant be nervous. dixon has been there for every meeting, every practice, every camp, for the past 3 years. looking at what is left, he is the most capable for leading us in these next 3 games.

im willing to bet when ben comes back he is going to have a few mis-fires and throw a horrible interception as well.

What annoys me more are the people who still think Batch will be able to come in after getting little to no reps or practice time with the first team, and work miracles compared to Dixon...they're just Dixon-haters or Debbie Downers or something. Im not proclaiming Dixon to be great, but hes simply the best option we have right now...not necessarily a GOOD option, but the best one.

You could just sense he wanted to, it looked like he had a little trouble reading the D, thus the possible interceptions and low passes.

I realize his stats weren't that bad and I'm pulling for the guy to do well as he is our best option. I just don't have confidence in him. I had a sick feeling at the game everytime he dropped back like something bad was about to happen. If he says he was nervous, I guess it showed. He just didn't appear comfortable at all. Like he was short arming all his passes.

I agree!! Dixon will be fine he is playing in only his second game and most think he should be playing like the next coming of Ben, Brady, or Manning. Most QB's have year or more to develop and in 2 games most want him to be there which is totally wrong.

Dixon should be much improved this week and the nervous bug should be much better and even still he may make mistakes because he has not seen all in live action like other QB's have to make the quick adjustments. The game will slow down for him in time.

He actually made great reads it was his ball placement and timing that was off! I watched the game 3 times since Sunday looking at what he did as a QB.

Nobody thinks he's going to pull of a Manning-esque performance, but quit coddling the guy. He's not mentally retarded or autistic. He played a pretty poor game and that's final. We won in spite of him. I'm pretty sure any starting QB would have won this game for us with the way our defense played. The 'Debbie downers' are just tired of hearing "it was only his second start" bullshit. This is his 3rd year with the team.

He did pretty well i thought, wallace was waving his arms in the air a few times tho. I guess he was pressured then, not sure.
