Since I didnt see a thread about this I thought it time to start one... I first off like the Idea, I know alot of owners have complained and alot of stars have bowed out but it is the first year. I dont see to many soccer owners complaining about the world cup! Its just the fact that you have to start somewhere... On that note I think it comes down to the USA, Dominican Republic, and Venezuala to take it all. DR is really hurt now that Pedro had to bow out due to injury, a big boost for the USA. So far Korea beat Chinese Tapei 2-0 and Japan beat China 18-2 in a game that triggered the 5 inning mercy rule... China will play Korea today.

Cool...I'll watch or at least DVR. I'm busy at work and moving, so I'm a bit discombobulated....

I would have liked to have seen Ollie on the mound today. Instead they have Lopez taking the mound.

Aparently from what I've read Ollie has struggled... He had a hard time against a community college!!

It's nice to actually watch a baseball game and enjoy it at the same time. I'm not used to this feeling since I live in Pittsburgh.

I think they can win on pitching, but it's pretty clear they are at a disadvantage to all these Latin teams who played winter ball...it takes a few weeks to "get your swing on" as any of us who have ever watched a significant amount of Spring Training ball can attest to.

The latin hitters are obviously ahead of the curve as far as hitting goes as evident by the amount of runs today. Normaly at this time of the year the pitchers are way ahead of the hitters but these Latin guys are ready, I would not be suprised if we lose to DR or Venezuela

I'm not sure...our pitching may be too dominant.

Willis is todays starter I believe. Clemens goes tomorrow. It will be interesting to see how the Cuban team does, no one from the states knows to much about them but they say they have a chance to make some serious noise...

Miracle on dirt. Canada beats the USA in baseball.

I guess we gotta give Canada a bone every now and then. Wow, they do better in baseball than they do in hockey. Who would have known?

We'll be back. I'm not going to go as far as calling them a "fluke" or make excuses, they showed up and beat us. End of story. Overall though, one loss doesn't really bother me. If we don't get out of the first round, then I will be upset.

SteelerDan43
03-09-2006, 10:20 AM
There is actually a scenario with the tie breaker where if Mexico wins like 2-1 where we lose the tiebreaker and are eliminated

Korea game was supposed to start at 10:00 last night. ESPN didn't show it until 1:00 in the morning. They are dropping the ball with this tournament (excuse the pun). Who in the hell would stay up to watch this game? I would love to see the ratings for this tournament. Thankfully, I didn't bother staying up to watch us get our butts handed to us by Korea.

From what I've seen, we are damn good on paper.
