....i heard a great point in favor of the jerry jones and dan snyders of the nfl who are opposed to sharing part of their additional revenues such as naming their stadiums "fex-ex field", luxury boxes, adverising deals, etc.

why isnt the players union trying to have all the superstars like p. manning, d. mcnabb, t. brady, etc. split up and share all the money they earn from chunkys, visa, autograph signings and appearance fees?

As much as I dislike Jerry Jones, I have to say that is an excellent question.

As much as I dislike Jerry Jones, I have to say that is an excellent question. i never really agreed with the 9 or so mega owners but the point is a very valid question. i have heard that the players union is in a have their cake and eat it too type negotiation and im starting to understand a little more why. after all d. snyder did spend $750,000,000 or so of his OWN $$$$ on the redskins. some of these owners do actually own their own stadiums rather than leasing them or having the public taxpayers fund them. i see both sides of the issue. i think they will have to meet in the middle and give the players 58% of the revenues.

i think dan rooney will be the voice of reason in this whole issue. it has been reported that the steelers merchandise has made up 40% of all sales in the nfl this year yet he is not one of the teams balking at the expanded revenue sharing amongst teams. i think he trully has his finger on the pulse of what is right for the nfl as a WHOLE.

The thing that I never hear getting brought up about all the money is...

...players can make even more money from endorsements and the like. It just sounds like nobody wants to talk about all the cash the players make outside the game.

Don't get me wrong, I think both sides sound a little greedy, but the players make their money playing the game AND through endorsements. Most owners from the small markets make ALL of their money through the game and the game only. At least that's what I'm guessing.
