View Full Version : Randle El's punt returns, as bad as I thought.

Randle el is washed up as a punt returner, and maybe as a receiver too. I think the Steelers would have been better off keeping Logan as a return man and leave the 3rd wr receiver job to one of our rookies.
He's been king of the fair catch the past two seasons in Washington, obviously nothing's changed. 19 fair catches to 17 punt's returned last year.

agreed. it's sad cause i really liked him when he was back there during his first stint with us. Seems a couple steps slower. But maybe Tomlin is thinking his sure hands are more reliable than the rooks. He's not running deep routes anyways and I'm sure if dixon would of put the ball in a more catchable spot a few times last week he would of had at least 2 more catches for first downs. He's definitely not explosive like he used to be. i would be seriously surprised if he's on the team next year.

I don't think he had one attempt in preseason. I was under the impression it was Brown's showing that pushed Logan out... not El's resume. He just doesn't have it anymore. Even giving bookoo credit to the falcons for not giving him any real openings with some good punts on their part, I still don't think he's the right choice. It's obviously a numbers matter to keep the #5 WR on the active list for gameday, but you would have thought they knew that going in if they thought Brown was going to be an option in the first place.

Just noticed this. Maybe a merge is in order. Just a suggestion. :noidea:

Logan was worthless to this team. Brown will eventually be the returner maybe as soon as this week, but Tomlin knows they can't afford rookie mistakes like muffing punts or running wrong routes leading to picks while Ben's out. Randle El is just sure hands as a returner and he isn't a terrible depth WR either. I didn't have a problem with it other than the fact Tomlin didn't get him any work in as a returner during the preseason. If you're going to use him then get him a few returns before opening game and he didn't.

Logan was worthless to this team.
Wow. That's taking it one step too far, imo.
Tony did a lot of legwork on this fact, and if he won't tell you as much now, I'll have to go get the "evidence" to the contrary.
