My wife and I had the good fortune of attending a benefit last night (3/4/06) that was raising money for "Matt's Media 4 Kids with Cancer". This touching story is about a local 12 year old boy named Matt Conover who was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma and died in 2002 nine days before his 13th birthday.

The organization is raising money in order to provide all kinds of activities, games, videos, etc. for '8 North' the hematology and oncology ward of Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh.

The event was a great success and everyone who attended had the opportunity to bid on silent auction items, many worth hundreds (a few worth thousands) of dollars. All donated to raise money for thist worthy cause.

After listending to Matt's Mom Noelle, there was an anouncement for a last minute silent auction item, an original Tom Mosser (Sewickly artist) painting of Jerome Bettis holding the Vince Lombardi trophy!

I took a look at the painting and realized that the level of Mr. Mosser's talent combined with the great cause made this an east item to bid on.

Well as luck would have it, we had the winning bid! My wife and I were so excited to bring it home to our two sons.

But I realize that there is one problem with this, there won't be many people able to see this wonderful, one of a kind painting as it sits in my home.

So without further ado, I've attached a photo for all of you Jerome Bettis fans, I hope you enjoy it!

Warm Regards,

Very nice man! If you're really concerned about the public being able to view it, you can always loan it to a museum. If not, i'm sure it looks beautiful in your home!

What a great idea! I've just sent an e-mail to a friend of mine at the Heinz History Center with that offer. I haven't heard back yet, but if they do a Steeler Super Bowl exhibit hopefully the painting will be included.
