Greetings, Steelers fans.

As you know, you face the daunting task of traveling to Tampa to play the undefeated Tampa Bay Buccaneers this Sunday.

I should start off by stating that I have already sent the boards of our previous opponents (the Browns and the Panthers) into mass hysteria. By the way, the Browns fans are a bunch of clowns who generally seem to have no real idea about football in general... they promptly started deleting all of my posts and then proceeded to ban me after my Bucs gave them a firm beating in week 1. (even after I was threatened to be shot once, called "gay" many times, and even had a few folks try and meet up with me to set up a "fight")

I don't intend on coming to this board to act a fool like I did on the other two boards. As a knowledgeable fan, I understand this week's game will be a true test for my team (and perhaps to your surprise, maybe for the Steelers as well).

While neither team seems to be doing much on offense so far in these first few games, I understand that, like the Bucs, the Steelers' first two games have been highlighted with dominating defense.

I should note that that Bucs haven't allowed a second half point yet... so I hope you folks don't think this game will be a cakewalk (like some of the "experts" have said about our week 1 and week 2 games).

Look forward to talkin' some trash with you people... and as always... respect The Bicep, and The Bicep shall respect thee.

I think that's actually what most Bucs fans are hoping for.

We saw the ineptitude of Lefty last year first hand. It wasn't pretty.

The dude can have success, no doubt... but he needs a lot of time to do it,.. and our pass rush has been getting better every week since the beginning of preseason. I don't see Lefty making it through the game if he starts.

It reminds me of a game a few years ago when Lefty was in Atlanta. The game was a road game for the Bucs, and Lefty got the start for the Falcons. The Bucs ate Lefty for lunch. It was painful to watch because I actually felt sorry for the dude. I was at the game, and by the second quarter, fans were chanting for JOEY FRIGGIN HARRINGTON to come in to the game.

So to reiterate- I hope Lefty is the starter.

Welcome aboard! You would actually constitute our first "smack talking" fan for the year...so I know some are itching to dig in.

I'm perfectly fine with smack talk (and I know Tony is too), but if you really want to get down and dirty with it, just make sure to take it to the blast furnace. http://forums.steelersfever.com/forumdisplay.php?f=19

Cordial football talk (with a little smack mixed in) will be left in the Steelers section though.

Enjoy your stay, and I hope the Steelers smack the taste out of the Bucs next week!

P.S. All of us here can verify the fact that Clowns fans are (for the most part) shriveled up pieces of shit.

We just need a decent game manager really. As long as the ball isn't being turned over and Reed makes his FG's, the Steelers are good to go. With injuries to Lefty and Dixon, the coaches aren't going out of there way to get into anything fancy at all. It'll be a pure vanilla offense...low risk, low TO rate. Steelers D will take care of the rest.

Thanks for the kind welcome, and I think you should expect similar gameplanning from the Bucs. I expect we'll try and run the ball (probably married to the run game) and have little succces. I think this will really be a defensive game.

Steelers have an edge in defense (though I think the gap is smaller than some may like to think)

And I think without Big Ben, the Bucs have a slight edge in offense.

Going to come down to whoever plays a smarter game.

(obviously I was kidding)

I respect any team that is 2-0 because there are no cakewalks in the NFL. I agree - our offenses are a wash. But I think our D is better. But you have home field. I predict we will just eke by. 16-15 Steelers

Freeman is looking quasi-legit thus far. If your boys run into trouble in the run game, how do you feel Freeman will react to passing against LeBeau's complicated schemes?

I am going to have to say there is NO comparison there, wearing my BnG-shaded glasses and thermos full of Kool-Aid. :tt03: Our defense is legit. I'm hoping yours isn't. That said... What are your D's strengths to look for?

Freeman is still very much a question mark to us. He has a GREAT work ethic, but we werent sure what kind of success he was going to have this year. So far, so good.

our D-line is improving, but still average in stopping the run. our LBs are becoming more experienced, a very solid unit. DB is what youre gonna worry about. With Talib and Barber at CB (3 picks combined by those two). Not to mention one of the hardest hitting safties in the league in Tanard Jackson.

Derka. Don't forget our already busted-up, make-shift, get in there by committee O-Line. I hope your pass rush is mediocre.

Both Stylez G White and Tim Crowder (3rd in the NFL for sacks) at defensive end are pass rushing specialists, not to mention our 3 VERY talented defensive tackles (Roy Miller, Brian Price, and of course, Mr. McCoy)

i hope you start Leftwich, because it'll be a field day. At least Dixon is quick enough to get out of the pocket

i'm not worried about your DBs at all mainly because passing will be at a safe, conservative minimum. If he's not open by 3 steps, he's not getting the ball.

"our D-line is improving, but still average in stopping the run" & "not to mention our 3 VERY talented defensive tackles (Roy Miller, Brian Price, and of course, Mr. McCoy)"

not really sure what to believe there, captain enigma. 4 sacks and 4 FF. I do know Crowder was decent at UT.

I don't think playing against the Browns and Panthers gives you a true feel of what you will see when the Steelers D comes at you on Sunday. We're just trying to survive with our 3rd and 4th string QBs, and you're fully loaded.(ie..not expecting it to get a lot better in 2 weeks).

But....as they always say...thats why you play the game. We'll see on Sunday!

I would favor the Steelers this game. Our QB situation is a mess, but I think our D has looked better than the Bucs against better offenses as well. Both Atl and Ten are thought to be playoff contenders and both have dominant phases within their offense. Atl with Ryan, White, Gonzales through the air and Ten with CJ2k or CJ34, after yesterday on the ground.

Keep in mind that the only TD our team has given up was to Tennessee with :58 left in the game in a prevent defense. I would be surprised to see the Bucs get into the endzone twice as your 17-14 score predicts. 17-14 predicts both teams go endzone twice, I would think if the Bucs win, 16-13 is much more likely.

We overlook noone, Bicep. (Welcome BTW.)

I said it as early as last night that I hope this travel game to Tampa isn't a trap. Still, this makes 3 weeks in a row now to where opposing teams come in her boasting about how their going to take it to us. Tampa is a hard place to play, we enter un-familiar territory against an NFC opponent and has the tools to play upset. Still, with Josh Freeman back there, Dick LeBeau will once again come up with a gameplan to throw whatever we got at that young of a quarterback. Freeman will face a defense he's never seen before and judging by the first 2 games and how nightmarish our defense has become, I don't see a stagnant offense with a second year player under quarterback like Freeman to put up more than 13 points, if that.

You played an atrocious Browns team and a mediocre at best Panthers team. None of those teams could offer up the kind of nasty you'll see from the Steelers. Even though our offense is in shambles at the moment, we are still playing as physical as anyone.

With that said, our offense isn't any better than the mighty mite team that plays just down the street from me. We are down to our last QB and can barely come up with an offensive game plan. However, Leftwhich is primed to start Sunday and is our only hope of offering us with just one tad of a spark, even a small one.

Looking forward to talkin football all week. I know for one, I will not overlook the Bucs and close games have become the norm of expectations without Ben in the lineup. Should be interesting.

I have the feeling this will be one of those 3 - 0 games that could go either way depending on which QB makes a mistake in their own red zone and gives up the FG. Or hell, it could even be a 6 - 3 shootout. I don't think either team will move the ball and will boil down to turnovers...

Two undefeated teams.... well, yours does look a bit more daunting than the Panthers, I admit... It'll be better for us with Big Ben out, but that's a cop out. I want your best players doing their best, no injuries, no issues. Then it's the better team that wins. Yeah, with your best in, we'd have a mud hole stomped in us I think... but meh, it is what it is.

Wow the Stains with Delhommo and the Panthers with Moore and the great one Claussen? I guess when your resume is that weak you can only list the facts and not BS to skate by. lol

Unless you just signed a QB 2 RB's and 3 WR's I think your weekend is going to be spoiled by our Def. As outside of when we go into a dam prevent defense set to let the other team score, your not going to have a good week against Troy, Harrison and Woodley.

4 sacks, 4 turnovers are coming.

Freeman better rest up.

Like I said in an earlier post, hardly ever does a young QB go up against the Steelers defense and look good which in any case, they look bad at best. We faced Matt Ryan and that Falcons offense that arguably has the most weaponry in the NFL on offense and certainly within the NFC. We took on the scariest running back in the entire NFL and held him to only 34 yards.

Vince Young does nothing but win and led the league in passing in Week 1, never faced the Steelers D and we forced him out of the game. I just don't see Freeman being able to grasp a LeBeau led Steelers defense. I expect pure domination like the first two games, but of coarse it will be the lack of offense to where this game will be up in the air and be won by EITHER team. Hopefully Leftwhich is a go Sunday.

I've always been a Bucs fan, but they have never had the best games against the Steelers. Even on their superbowl run, Steelers beat them.
The Tampa 2 defense is a terrible run defense, but with the Steelers offensive line banged up, that probably wont play a big role in this game as it has in the past.
Bucs have a chance to win this game if the Steelers are forced to pass, but thats it, the Bucs wont be able to move the ball on the Steeler defense, they will need a big defensive play for a score, if they don't get that, the Steelers win this 13-6

One intangible that may affect preperation this week is the friendship between Tomlin and Morris. I think Tomlin will definately want to show Morris how to do it in the NFL. I remember a quote from MT when Morris asked him early in the 08 season, if there was a Head Coach Manual. Tomlin's response was " Yes, I'll bring it to Tampa". I loved the confidence.

Last time The Steelers played in Tampa, well you all know what happened.

I'm kinda pleased for the way the Buccs started. They smacked the Clowns, that's gotta be worth some kudos, and were roundly dismissed by the press pre-season. Just as we can't apparently win without Ben, they were seen as a 2-14 team by some (I bet Peter King is popular in Florida). Always nice to see a team play with a chip on its shoulder.

I too think it'll be a defensive slog - hell, given our production, we might as well run the wildcat with each down. That said, on the other side of the ball we've been scary-good. Obviously I hope we'll sneak it, but I don't doubt it'll be a tough test.

I am expecting Sunday to be a great game and will really show where the Bucs stand this year. I am expecting a very low scoring game as both teams defense's have been playing very good as of late and the offense's are nothing more than average.

In what was the most dominant display of defense in the past 2 games for the past...oh...30 years, you think we have a slight edge on defense? To the Tampa Bay Buccaneers?

LOL. Uhmmmm, no just no. I respect your defense and think it is great, but to say what you just said is absurd. You guys do have an advantage on D, but as BNB said, it isn't as big as most people think. The Bucs D has been playing pretty damn good too. 21 points allowed in 2 games which ranks 2nd in the NFL, only behind you guys and we've been forcing many turnovers.

Hello,
Bucs fan here hoping for a hard fought injury free game with a bucs win of course. With the recent news of jackson. I think steelers probably are going to squeak by and get the win. I hope not though.:drink:

Ehhh...they just held CJ (who was on a 12 game 100+ yard streak) to 34 rushing yards, harassed VY out of the game and terrorized Collins when he came in. Forced 7 TO's and held 2 decent offenses to 10 points. I'm not sure how you get much better than that.

This defense is on par to perform better than the '08 defense. The Bucs defense doesn't even come close in comparison...sorry.

What did I just say that was absurd? We've allowed 9 points in game 1. In week two that same team put up 41 points. 11 points in game 2, 7 of which came in garbage time. The week before that team put up 38 points.

You played the Panthers and Browns. We played the Falcons and Titans. We forced 7 turnovers last week.

Are you guys delusional? I know you're not use to winning but come on. The gap between your D and ours is drastic. The only small gaps between ours and anyone else's is the Jets and Ravens.

It was a great peformance, don't get me wrong, but the best in the past 30 years, I don't think so.

As I said, don't get me wrong, it was a tremendous peformance, I just think saying it was the best peformance in the past 30 years is going a bit far.

And the Falcons faced the Cardinals defense in week 2. You know, the team that allowed 45 points in BOTH their playoff games last year. Their defense is a joke. The Falcons offense is a solid and I give oyu guys props for shutting them down, but it's nothing amazing.

Titans faced the Raiders in week 1 who are pretty damn bad. Their offense is pretty much 1 demonsional too with really their only threat being Chris Johnson. VY really isn't anything good and they have no weapons. I give you mad props for shutting down CJ, but the Titans offense really isn't that good.

Hell, both the Cardinals and Raiders D made Sam Bradford look pretty good out there in his 1st 2 starts and that's not supposed to happen.

You're in the wrong stadium if you want to start talking about defense. Remember, this is the Steelers board. We've lived and died on our defense for the past 30 years (or however old anyone else is on this board). Our knowledge of it is pretty superior to most fans around the league. That Tampa 2 that you guys did exclusively. Guess where that came from...:tt04:

Considering we have no offense. None. Zero. The last two weeks, especially the last one, is definitely up there with the most dominant display of D in the past 30 years.

I'll give you that the '85 Bears and '00 Ravens were probably better, but if this years D comes out to be anything like the '08 defense, then yes...there will be an argument in favor of this defense being the best in the past 30 years, and maybe of all time. We'll see how it shapes up though.

You have some misinformation sir. If it was 'roids with Tanard it would have been a first offense and 4 game suspension. This is for testing positive for Marijuana, as has been an ongoing issue with Tanard.

You kidding me? You are calling me a fake fan? Wow, dude, where are you getting that from? No, I haven't been a Bucs fan since the orange days, but I wasn't even around then. I am only 18 and have been a Bucs fan since 2000 and I consider myself a diehard. I have watched every game the past 5 years, including every single one last year of a miserable and tough 3-13 season. I live in New Jersey and my dad is a Giants fan so to watch our teams we have to pay for NFL Sunday Ticket every year. We split the money paying for it. I always watch and follow the Bucs and nothing will ever stop that, no matter how bad it gets. I know there are some fairweather fans in Tampa, but I am a diehard fan of this team. So, yea, please don't critisize my fanhood, you jackass.

I wouldn't get too worked up about accusations of being a fair weather fan. Most ignorant people resort to cliched insults when they have nothing better to say.
