Can't do it. It's like asking a parent to pick their favorite child! Well, maybe not quite like that.......wait! What am I saying? This is harder than picking a favorite child!

Jack Raphael Ham Jr. In my opinion, the best all around LB in NFL history.

Very true. If we'd had a backup like him this year we could have taken the division.
Oh well, guess we'll just have to settle for being the first 6th seed, first to win 3 on the road, then the Superbowl, etc. lol

There's soooooooo many.......lol.

The first live NFL game I saw was at Riverfront in Cincy. Eric Green caught a td in overtime to win the game.........so I'll go with Eric Green.

p.s. Bubby Brister threw that pass........so maybe I should pick him?!?!?!?!?!?!

I think Polamalu is poised to take over the helm as my favorite current Steeler.

I've had many favorites over the years, and much like Dan Rooney said "it's not about one for the thumb for these guys, this is their time" I like to think every era deserves a "favorite." :)

As someone else said, my two favorite players in the game are Hines Ward on the offensive side of the ball, Troy Polamalu on the defensive side.

My favorite recent play is Either Jerome or Troy.

I love watching Jerome just run over people. I also love watching Troy put a huge hit on someone.

I have to say my recent favorite steeler is Hines Ward followed by Big Ben

Way to many. But my favorites are The Bus, Troy Polamalu, Hines Ward, Franco Harris, Mean Joe Green, Jack Lambert, and Big Ben.

Rod Woodson is still my favorite Steeler of all time, I just wish they would have kept him so he could have only played for the Steelers. Of the current players it would have to be Hines Ward.

There are so many of them, it's impossible to pick just one, or two.

From the "really old days", before Chuck Noll - guys I would have seen only on highlight films (but worth mentioning because they are part of Steeler history):

Bullet Bill Dudley
John Henry Johnson
Ernie Stautner
Bill Saul
Bobby Layne

From the Super Seventies:
Bradshaw
Franco
Dobre Shunka
Stallworth
Mean Joe
Jack Lambert, from Buzzard's Breath, Wyoming

From the lean years, before Bill Cowher:
Louis Lipps
Frank Pollard
Bryan Hinkle

The Cowher Years:
Rod Woodson
Jerome Bettis
Big Ben
Hines Ward
Troy Palumalu

my favorites are:

Hines Ward
Big Ben

and past stars:

Lynn Swann (my dad loved him)
Bradshaw
Franco Harris
Jack Lambert

They are like Lay's.... can't just pick one with that said in no particular order

Older Teams: Bradshaw, Bleir, The O-line, the first line to show off their guns in all weather!
Lambert, Ham , Shell, Blount, the original shut down corner, hell the whole Steel Curtain they would beat you to death and the league had to change the rules to give the other teams a chance !!

New teams: Troy, Hines, Kreider, Farrior , I give up I love them all in Black n Gold!!!

Bettis. Not only for what he did as a player, but what he does as a person. He is just straight out the classiest player thats put on a Steeler uniform in a long time. I have tons of respect for him.

To me, this is a very hard question. I tend to like guys that were not the stars of the team.

Currently: Hines Ward and Larry Foote
early 2000's or late 90s--Bobby Shaw
70s Rocky Blier and Lack Lambert

I have not been able to see many of the old timers play... but I did watch a Lambert tribute video a while back on here, and I must say.. that Jack Lambert must have been INCREDIBLE to watch. I loved watching him tackle guys... and Troy reminds me of him. On a little more mellow approach.. but he reminds me of Lambert!

David loves both Lambert and Hamm! Lambert being his favorite!

Past - Rod Woodson, Greg Lloyd and Plaxico Burress

Current - Hines Ward, Jerome Bettis, Ben Roethlisberger and Joey Porter. (honestly it could be anyone on the team, I love 'em all.)

But if I had to pick my single favourite ever it would be Jerome Bettis.

Favorite: Lynn Swann. To see him go up and cradle in a ball over his shoulder was a thing of beauty.

Most overrated Steeler: Franco, how fast can I get out of bounds, Harris.

"Franco who?"

2000+ = Alan Faneca
90's = Greg Lloyd
80's = I would have to pick Merril Hoge
70's = Toughest choice....Lambert (Ham is close second cause he went to Penn State)

this is the great thing about being a steelerfan. there are just too many to choose a favorite. with most other teams it would be an easy consensus between 2 or 3 guys. with no disrespect to my hero terry bradshaw or the fierce g. lloyd who brought the art of tae kwon do to football, or mean joe green who epitomized steelers defense (along with many others past and present), i must give kudos to a guy who started his career with the rams.......
and its not jerome bettis. i loved kevin green as a steeler and wish he couldve been a lifer. if he were, he might be on this list a few more times.

I grew up IN AWE of Big Daddy Lipscomb.

Next was Andy Russell, then Jack Ham and Joe Greene.

In the '80s, Woodson. Then Bettis.

mattsme has hit the nail right on the head - there is no way in Hades this is remotely possible. I must protest by naming a handful of favorites:

(in no particular order)

Rod Woodson
Greg Lloyd
Jack Lambert
Jerome Bettis
Swanny
Chuck Noll

Bradshaw is still my favorite of all time. Despite all the Great players we had, he called his own plays and is the one who made me want to be a QB when growing up. Is more a sentimental choice I guess lol But man, there are just too many awesome players past and present. Even giving the top 5 could be debatable.
