Analysis | Injury Report | Agility | High School | Personal

Aptly nicknamed "Big Money," Miller made a claim as the greatest tight end in school and Atlantic Coast Conference history. He is the first player in ACC annals to win the Mackey Award as the nation's best tight end. He also became the school's first major award winner since 1941. Miller holds every receiving record for a tight end in school history and also established new conference career records for receptions, touchdown catches and yards gained by a tight end. He closed out his career as the first two-time first-team all-ACC tight end in school history.

I LOVE this pick! He was by far the best player available. I think he will give Big Ben a steady target over the middle. I also think he will be used in the passing game more than our TE's in the past.

Great pick!

I agree. I am excited to see how this will play out.

Great way to start the draft. Halth will be a great target for Big Ben. Now we need to add another WR. Roscoe Parrish from Miami would be WONDERFUL!!!!

Here we go Steelers, Here we go!!

He went to the Bills. Not sure what other WR's are out there.

Bryant McFadden the CB from Florida State is our newest guy. What's everyone's opinion on him? I like him. He's very aggressive from the clips they are showing. I think he is a good fit for Pittsburgh.

Way back when I said I'd be shocked if we took a TE in the draft in the 1st round. Well, I stand corrected, Im not really shocked, especially since Matt jones was gone way earlier than anyone else thought.

Welcome Heath, now, go kick some ass!

Cowher/Colbert press-conference

COLBERT: We are very pleased to announce our first-round pick, Health Miller, from the University of Virginia. We have had our eye on Heath throughout this whole process. It was just a situation where we were going to monitor it, and see who was going to be the best player available. He definitely filled that bill, and we are very happy he is joining the Steelers.

Q: Did you have a certain number of guys you were looking at?

COLBERT: We had it pared down to five guys, and Heath was definitely in that group the whole time. We were very happy that he made it down to us at pick No. 30.

COWHER: When we went through it and the scenario took place we had the same players on the board. We pretty much knew who we were looking at, and it really did not take us very long to turn the pick in. We had a few calls, but nothing that was enticing for us to do. We just made the pick.

I just hope we finally use the position of TE. Haven't used it the way that we should have in awhile

Heath Miller press-conference

Q: With the way things were going today, did it look to you like you were going to go to the Steelers?

MILLER: I always kind of knew in the back of my mind that was an option. I'm excited to be a part of this organization and this team with the history behind it. Hopefully, I can be a contributor and help the team win early.

Q: What do you think about coming in here and catching passes from [Ben] Roethlisberger?

MILLER: I think it's going to be exciting. It's a great place to be for a tight end. I know I'm going to have to be a good blocker and a good receiver, which is what I want to be.

89, do we know this is going to be his number??? I wasn`t sure.

04-24-2005, 08:34 AM
Im sure he'll have to pay Lee Mays a pretty penny to get it.

04-24-2005, 10:37 AM
relax, Madden couldn't even get Roethlisberger to fit on the jersey.

04-24-2005, 12:35 PM
Madden NFL is the best game that is ever made by far although this has nothing to do with the thread lol

04-24-2005, 04:10 PM
No its not the thread, but your right,

04-25-2005, 12:18 AM
Yeah sorry for going off topic but I just wanted to see if they gave him another number or not. Funny story from last year though...after we got Ben, I got a pop up add for the NFL jersey, be first...personalize, etc...anyway spent a couple minutes typing all info for Ben and Roethlisberger doesn't even fit in the order form! Man, if you work in that department you got to be heads up for top picks with long names. Anyway, Welcome to the Black and Gold Heath!

Well let me be the first, I think.

What goes great with a Roethliburger, some Hines, and a Miller!

I Know a little lame, but you know it won`t be long before someone is printing these on ebay, probably already done
