I would not pick Duke if they were the only team playing. They win all the time, so they don't need my vote.

Is Texas deserving of being in my final four or are they overrated?

thanks in advance,

I'd tell you, but since I'm planning on having a perfect bracket, then I'd have to kill you:cool:

Ohio State? I have them too!

I have

OSU

Duke

UConn

Memphis

Ohio State

I have about 5-7 brackets running, so many I've already forgot about them, but the big one, the one I'm concerned about is the Yahoo one from this board, and, without looking, I'm 90% sure I have the same final 4.

Damn! My bracket has been busted...twice!

(Nevada and Alabama)

SteelerDan43

Duke - Best team for the entire season
UConn - Most likely gonna be them or UNC from the DC region and I think that UConn has been the second best team all year and have alot more tournament experience
UCLA - Wide open region, only have to get by a team in Gonzaga that hasnt played anyone worth noting in months then either Memphis, Kansas, or Pitt. With Howland as coach I got to go with them
Boston College - Best team in the ACC not named Duke. They have been red hot the second half. Villanova has injury issues (Ray) and Ohio State has been seriously talked up, Big Ten is not that good. Florida has a shot but havnt been real consistent.

On another note I had Montana won and have UNC-Wilmington who are winning right now

UNCW was a tough call, since GW was a bit of a darling, but I had that one right, too.

Still sticking with the BC call after a double OT win against Pacific?

OSU's RPI was 4 or 5, depending, so hardly a slouch.

SteelerDan43
03-16-2006, 09:19 PM
BC worries me a little but Pacific is always tough in the tourney as Pitt knows all too well

SteelerDan43
03-16-2006, 09:21 PM
That was a hell of an ending in regulation in the GW-UNCW game

What will the talking heads have to say for themselves if a Thad Motta-less Xavier knocks off Gonzaga? There was MUCH Morrison nuthugging...and Zags whined heavily about their seeding.

SteelerDan43
03-16-2006, 09:37 PM
Damn UNCW blew that damn lead and lost in OT, oh well I had them losing to Duke anyway...

Suitanim

My brackets are getting busted, damnit!

But you're right...picking upsets is an okay strategy in rd 1 only...eventually, the cream rises to the top.

SteelerDan43
03-16-2006, 09:43 PM
So far I'm 8-3, I had Oklahoma, Marquette, and UNCW. But its not too bad as I didnt have any of those teams getting through to the sweet 16

whether it is or isnt texas, i guarantee it WILL NOT BE DUKE!

I've got UConn, Memphis, Duke and Boston College

The early games screwed me today. Iowa down on a last second 3.

March Madness should be a national holiday.

Suitanim
03-17-2006, 06:13 PM
Yeah, how bout them Northwestern State Demons knocking off the Hawkeyes. Perhaps Iowa didn't get the memo that's it's okay to blow off the massive underdog team for part of the game, just not the LAST part of the game.

Dumbasses.

SteelerDan43
03-17-2006, 06:20 PM
Ya Iowa really screwed everyone over but not alot people had that as an upset thankfully.

I'm looking through the wreckage that was my Atlanta bracket...not much to salvage, except a Duke win out.

My Oakland bracket is still pretty strong.

My DC bracket is pristine.

And Minneapolis isn't that bad either, considering I had Nevada and Wisconsin advancing.

The Big East teams that lost were iffy to begin with, if Syracuse doesnt doesnt win the Big East tourney they might not have gotten in, Marquette and Seton Hall were all middle of the pack Big East teams. Cincy should have gotten in over Seton Hall IMO

PITT played well against Kent State. Game started to get a little physical.

Lyn
03-18-2006, 09:53 AM
kansas was in my final four and they are gone. I should have stuck with Pittsburgh but they stung me the last couple of years. That will be an excellent game between Bradley & Pittsburgh! Even if my brackets are bursted I can still enjoy the tournament , right LOL

True, I'm still trying to figure out how a team like Air Force got in the tournament.

Stay tuned for the UK over Connecticut upset tomorrow.

I really dont like how the teams are picked, IMO teams like a 18 win Alabama team should not get in.

Ditto, Dan... I always do well one day in the first round, and 8-8 one day. This year was no different. Final four is still in tact, but that's about it.

My brackets look like Beirut at this point...I'm not sure if anything can be salvaged.

Now I know why it's always the little old lady who knows nothing about basketball and makes her picks based on the team names she likes best that always wins the office pool...

I agree I think it is great to have these schools in and maybe have a different winner. I never heard of Bradley before the NCAA tourney, where is Bradley located? I wonder why some of the experts on ESPN, etc did not warn us to watch for these teams, is it that they too were surprised? If they have bb analysts they should not be surprised at all. We can not be everywhere so we do depend upon them to inform us and noone did.
We will see how much they have when they take on the big boys, well maybe I should say the big boys that are left!

Two of the upsets that Dikky V. and others predicted never happened. I think they jinxed the teams when they said that, and by that I mean they gave a heads up to their opponent. So the big dog was a little more prepared to fend off the underdog.

The other thing is, I don't think you can measure heart or predict streaks. That's why the analysts enjoy it so much too, because it takes them by surprise.

March Madness is the greatest sports event of the year.

Lyn
03-22-2006, 08:36 AM
I completely agree with you! march madness is the best sporting event of the year, bar none. I am not sure if it is the interaction and everyone can play along or if it is the fact here we have all this hungry talent or exactly why it is so good but it is!

LSU is physical, and that was supposed to be Duke's downfall...and Washington is supposed to have the REAL "best player in college basketball" in Brandon Roy, so I'd say not bad chances at all.

Then again, if you saw my brackets, you'd know better than to heed my advice...

Heart breaker for WVU. Ouch.

Lyn
03-24-2006, 11:37 AM
I hate to see any of those kids lose. None of them have anything to be ashamed of. they are all great players. I picked TX but I have a few friends who were heartbroken because they are wv fans So me it was a shallow victory.

83-Steelers-43
03-24-2006, 01:12 PM
I personally can't stand WVU because I'm a PITT fan, but I want to see as many BIG EAST teams in the final as possible. As of right now, it's looking pretty good.

So much for everybody on DUKE, NC, Kentucky and Gonzaga's jock.

It's 7:23 Saturday Night, and I JUST got my cable and roadrunner hooked up at the new crib, so I want to jump in on the Memphis bandwagon...I know they are young, and they are down 8-3 to UCLA at this moment, but I think they are gonna win it all...

Good news for fellow PITT fans........

Bad news for fellow PITT fans.........

"What is uncertain is whether Dixon's top assistant, Barry Rohrssen, will stay. The New York City native could be a candidate to replace Louis Orr at Seton Hall.".

Losing Rohrssen would be a significant loss in my opinion. He is our top NY connection.

Lyn

Awesome! I have always said that March Madness is the single most exciting thing going in sports. George Mason has soundly knocked out Michigan State in the 1st round, NC, Witchita (sp) and now UConn. New blood the Dules and the UConn of the sporting world will watch the last few games. Go George Mason. My brackets were done smothered when TX lost so now it is anyone's game. I do not care for LSU or FL or Nova!~

Go all the way George Mason!~

SteelerDan43

since all the Big East teams are out and I have no rooting intrest in any of these team, Officially count me in on the Geroge Mason bandwagon!!!

Two things:

I'd like to jump on the GM bandwagon, but whatever team I pull for loses, so I'll reserve comment.

I heard on the radio this morning that ONE GUY laid a $20 bet on George Mason to win the tournament...at 400-1, he's 2 games away from winning a $7980 return on his investment.
