"They also forced Jerame Tuman's hand by inviting free-agent tight end Aaron Shea for a visit. Tuman learned of it, quickly placed a call and told them he wanted to sign their latest contract offer.

Those moves also mean that, other than cornerbacks Deshea Townsend and Ike Taylor, all of the Steelers' starters are signed through the next two seasons.

"We're not in a situation where we have to tear it up," Colbert said about the Super Bowl champions. "When you look at our team, we have a lot of guys under contract for a minimum of two years. We're kind of caught up right now."

sure losing free agents sucks (anyone miss k. bell or plax?) but being in this situation as defending sb champs sure takes the sting out of it. especially when next year will be the 3rd year of the cowher/grimm/lebeau/whisenhunt coaching staff being together. 3 years is the longest bill cowher has had a staff stay intact in his whole tenure.

i cant wait for all the predictions that the browns/ravens/bengals are passing us up and doing great moves to get better as the steelers stand pat and await their immenent demise and downfall from glory.

we have to tie up ike taylor cause he will be the hottest cb to hit the market after next season. notice how no one is calling for ty law or charles woodson to replace him? im sure ike will be extended.

forget about bringing in any high priced free agents. the only free agents i am looking at for the next few years are polamalu, ben, ike, and willie. (all can and should be top 5 producers minimum, at their position)

with essex, starks, kemoeatu, and okolbi, there is great youth and potential to add to faneca and m. smith and you can rest assured that the steelers will continue drafting and developing the o-line. it is the backbone necessary to execute the steelers offensive philosophy.

with the cap going up again next year and the way all the contracts are structured the steelers shopuld have no worries about cutting high priced players to get under the cap. it seems not only are the majority signed they all have cap friendly numbers for the next few years.
