We only have ONE Monday night game and it's away?!?!?!!? :bs: :bs: :bs: :bs:

While I understand the NFL is able to change the scheduling, it's still BS IMO.

I dont think this schedule is all that bad considering we are the defending World champs.

That stretch in the middle

@San Diego 8:15pm
Oct 15 Kansas City 4:15pm
Oct 22 @Atlanta 1:00pm
Oct 29 @Oakland 4:15pm
Nov 5 Denver 4:15pm

Will be tough for sure, but other than, its very doable. I would have liked 2 monday nite games, but atleast we get 4 prime timers overall. Maybe more w/ the flex schedule they have now.

That last game against cincy at the end of the year could be HUGE !!

Can we get an actual MID season Bye JUST ONCE !! :dang: :dang: :dang:

Kep in mind what the NFL is doing this year ..... THEY have the right for the last 6 weeks ( it might be 7) to change games on Sunday and Monday depending on what games are played and what games are going to matter they are going to swap from day games to night games with a 12 day notice. They ae changing it this year so that two 3- 10 teams that are scheduled to play night games get moved to day games so more people will watch in prime time. So we may have a few more Night games depending on how the season pans out.

Another early Bye Week.

Baltimore at home on Christmas Eve. :dang:
I better start getting busy building my "Doghouse" now because I plan on going to the game and I'm sure my wife wont be too happy about that.

Don't forget 2 games against Cincy and 2 against Baltimore - we almost always drop one to Baltimore. I also think Miami is going to be a playoff caliber team this year.

Add in the playoff teams Tampa Bay and Carolina, and that's a pretty tough schedule.

Your right though, it could be worse.

I'm ALREADY anticipating that week 17 game....big time playoff implications there. How great would it be if we knocked them out of the playoffs during the last week of the season:sofunny:

The early bye is puzzling but it comes right in front of the AFC West games. And what is MNF thinking?

I like Denver and KC at home...I think. I don't like seeing two games within four days but at least they're at home.

Steelers Release 2006 Regular Season Schedule

PITTSBURGH — The Steelers will play at least four national primetime games, including the NFL's Kickoff Weekend opener on Thursday, Sept. 7, it was announced today when the National Football League released its 2006 regular season schedule.

The Steelers will kick off their season at home against the Miami Dolphins on Sept. 7, at 8:30 p.m. on NBC. Pittsburgh's second game of the season will also be a nationally televised primetime game on the road against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday, Sept. 18 at 8:30 p.m. The team's other primetime games are at San Diego on Sunday, Oct. 8 (8:15 p.m.) and a Thursday, Dec. 7 home game at 8 p.m. against division rival Cleveland Browns.

"We are excited to be able to kick-off the 2006 NFL season with a nationally televised primetime game at Heinz Field," said Steelers president Art Rooney. "It will be the ideal setting for our fans in Pittsburgh and around the world to watch as we begin our defense of the Super Bowl championship."

Pittsburgh's remaining home schedule includes a Week 3 match-up against defending AFC North champion Cincinnati Bengals (Sept. 24). The Kansas City Chiefs will visit Pittsburgh for the first time since 1989 when they play at Heinz Field on Oct. 15. The Steelers will host the Denver Broncos in a rematch of the 2005 AFC Championship Game on Sunday, Nov. 5, at 4:15 p.m. The New Orleans Saints will make their first trip to Pittsburgh since 1993 on Sunday, Nov. 12. On Dec. 3, Pittsburgh will host the NFC South champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Steelers will close out their home schedule on Christmas Eve (Dec. 24) against the Baltimore Ravens.

The Steelers' remaining road schedule includes trips to play the Atlanta Falcons (Oct. 22) and Oakland Raiders (Oct. 29) in consecutive weeks, and consecutive road games against division rivals Cleveland (Nov. 19) and Baltimore (Nov. 26). Pittsburgh's final two road games will take place Dec. 17 at Carolina and Dec. 31 at Cincinnati.

All Sunday afternoon games during Weeks 10-15 and Week 17 are subject to flexible scheduling and could be moved into the Sunday night time slot (8:15 p.m.). The majority of games will be listed at 1 p.m. ET during "flex" weeks except for games played in the Pacific or Mountain Time zones which will be listed at 4:05 or 4:15 p.m.

The NFL will provide at least 12 days notice of time changes due to the "flex" scheduling. Week 17 start time changes could be decided on six days notice to ensure a game with playoff implications. Flexible scheduling will not impact Thursday, Saturday or Monday night games, and will not take place during Week 16 due to the holiday weekend.

The Steelers' four-game preseason schedule will include one nationally televised (ESPN) game on Friday, Aug. 25 at 8 p.m. at Philadelphia. Pittsburgh's home preseason schedule includes games against the Minnesota Vikings on Saturday, Aug. 19, at 8 p.m. and the team's preseason finale on Thursday, Aug. 31, at 7:30 p.m. versus the Carolina Panthers. The Steelers kick off their preseason on the road Saturday, Aug. 12, at Arizona at 4:05 p.m. (ET).

the sunday night games are the new targeted marquis match up and the game of the week. much how monday night games used to be. espn's monday nighters will be just how it used to be on sunday nights. lower key, not as good of matchups. no flex sched and espn will get no playoff games. the whole nation doesnt have cable so the monday nighter will no longer be the gem of the nfl like it used to be.

each year it goes by divison and since we added more divisions ... will be a few years before we get pushed to the latter. It could be good in a way... we have time to fix whatever problems we have early on, but of course injury wise ... doesnt help much.

Local stations for the 2 teams playing the NFL Network games will broadcast the game over "free" TV in the 2 local markets. NFL Network wants cable to carry it (already on DirecTV) - no better way to do that than having games on your network.

It would be nice to get a late October bye week and not to have the Monday night game on the West Coast, which makes it an especially short week to prepare.

Look for one of the late season games to end up on NBC Sunday night.

Steelers come to the Georgia Dome this season - can't wait!

KC will be a tough game, but we drew them at home and not Arrowhead for a change (I don't think we've played them in Pittsburgh in 2 decades!). San Diego will be led by Phillip Rivers. Atlanta doesn't scare me a bit, Oakland sucks, and Denver will be a tough game, but, again, it's in Heinz.

Sep 7 Miami 8:30pm-win,CPepp might not play and if he does he'll be rusty and not 100%

Sep 18 @Jacksonville 8:30pm-They always play us tough.Should be a good one,with Maddox gone we'll win.

Sep 24 Cincinnati 1:00pm-Will Palmer even be back?If so,doubtful he'll be at 100%

Week 4 BYE

Oct 8 @San Diego 8:15pm-Lead by Phillip Rivers, facing the defending Champs. We'll win it,though thier defense will be good I think thier offense will be bad unless Rivers just does awesome.

Oct 15 Kansas City 4:15pm-Good offense, but what defense? Will Bell be in the ice tub by now?

Oct 22 @Atlanta 1:00pm-Doesn't worry me if Vick is at QB.If Shuab is at QB,he could make it interesting.

Oct 29 @Oakland 4:15pm-They suck,we'll crush 'em.They got mega-flop Aaron Brooks at QB for goodness sakes.I'd take Rivers over Brooks.

Nov 5 Denver 4:15pm-Will be a good one,but we'll win it.Pornstache will be having fits against our defense once again.

Nov 12 New Orleans 1:00pm-Even with Brees at the helm, will they be any good?

Nov 19 @Cleveland 1:00pm-It's Cleveland,we'll crush 'em.

Nov 26 @Baltimore 1:00pm-Will Boller be the QB or will McNair be the QB?Either way we'll win.

Dec 3 Tampa Bay 1:00pm-This will be one helluva defensive matchup. But will thier offense be good or will they be bad?

Dec 7 Cleveland 8:00pm-See my last comment on the Clowns.

Dec 17 @Carolina 1:00pm-This will be a good game.If we shut down Steve Smith we'll definatly win.I think we can make them look worse than they did in the NFCCG.

Dec 24 Baltimore 1:00pm-By this point will Billick even have his job?

Dec 31 @Cincinnati 1:00pm-Big playoff implications.Could decide the division or at least playoff seeding.Hell,it could decide if one of these teams even makes the playoffs.

Okay, six of the games later in the year can turn into night games if the NFL feels the need to make them nationally televised.

The games that can be changed are:
Sunday, Nov. 12*.............. NEW ORLEANS................................... 1 p.m. (FOX)

Sunday, Nov. 19*................ at Cleveland......................................... . 1 p.m. (CBS)

Sunday, Nov. 26*................ at Baltimore......................................... . 1 p.m. (CBS)

Sunday, Dec. 3*................ TAMPA BAY........................................ 1 p.m. (FOX)

Sunday, Dec. 17*................ at Carolina.......................................... .. 1 p.m. (CBS)

Sunday, Dec. 31*................ at Cincinnati........................................ . 1 p.m. (CBS)

So they could end up with more night games other than whats scheduled.

AFter the way we played at home last year, I'd sooner be on the road  but seriously though it will be nice to finally play the chiefs in Pittsburgh. I just really dont see this being all THAT tough of a schedule. I mean sure there are tough games in the division but they are always tough no matter what the record. Miami is ok but definately beatable, culpepper or not. We beat the chargers with a healthy brees so they dont scare me all that much.. but in any event, it wont be easy one bit and we're gonna get every teams best shot each week...but I think we could have easily gotten a tougher schedule had things played out differently with Mr. NFL. Scheduling man.

I can genuinely only see one loss on that schedule.

Cleveland may be improved but I dont think they are good enough to beat either Pittsburgh or Cincy at home or away.

Most of the tough games are at home, and ill give the Steelers the adv. over just about anyone at Heinz.

13-3 should be a bare minumum.

nfl scheduling isnt random. the teams in the afc north will play eachother 6 times. the nfc south once, and the afc west once. = 14 games. in the afc the north leader will play the leader of the east and south (cinci vs pats and indy). the 2nd in the north will play the 2nd in the east and south (pitt vs. mia and jax). 3rd in the north plays 3rd of the other 2 aND so on with the 4th. the harder and more difficult schedule is determined by 2 games (with the steelers and bengals) since each of us face eachother twice and both had 11-5 records.

Here's my projections. We're the Super Bowl XL Champions. Let's go Black and Gold Nation and Pride! First, my top priority is Big Ben Roethlisberger, one of my favorite player and hero. He has to be healthy in full season, he can go undefeated like he did in his rookie year. Go Big Ben!!! 3,000 yards, 30 TDs, 10 INTs and Offensive MVP candidate. Fast Willie Parker will have a breakout year. He'll get around 1,500 yards. Hines Ward and Cedrick Wilson will have a huge season, both will catch at least 125 balls, 2,200 yards, 20 TDs. Miller is an excellent blocker, he'll get about 35 catches, 500 yards and 5-7 TDs. Porter and Haggans, one of the best outside linebackers in league. They'll produce about 20-25 sacks. Farrior and Foote will lead the team for about 150 tackles and 5-10 sacks. Ike Taylor, fans are gotta love this guy, he'll produce about 100 tackles, 25-30 passes defended and 5 INTs. McFadden will have a great 2nd season, will rise to become a shooting star, he'll make 50 tackles, 2-4 sacks and 3 INTs. Polamalu, one of my favorite defensive player, he'll make about 50-75 tackles, 5-7 sacks, 3-5 INTs and Defensive MVP candidate.

Rest all starters, and let Charlie Batch start a final game at Cincinnati Bungles/Jungles. 3rd string QB plays 2nd half if leading and winning.

Mission impossible to Perfect Season.

Go Steelers!!!
