Late in the season is where he usually shines, so hopefully he keeps playing up to this level for the rest of the season and through out the playoffs where he holds the record for most 2 sack games in playoff games.

He was a non-factor most of the year, but he certainly did turn it on today. Hopefully he continues to play at this level the rest of the season.

lamaar 'jason gilDong' woodley hehe

just kiddin. i still don't think he's worth top 3 LB money but i'd say keep him if the price is reasonable

oh, trust me, i don't want to do 'without him'.
One point i had though, is i didn't, and still don't, think he's worth the GODLY money him and his agent are seeking. They're seeking crazy, sky-high huge salary, Troy/Ben-like money. Plus...no way this team can pay the moon to Ben, Harrison, Troy AND Woodley too. If his asking price remains the same, i expect him to go.

We just can't break the bank for an outside linebacker. If James was washed up ( which he isn't) we could cut his salary and sign Woodley. I just don't see how we can afford him.

Yes,Woodley is a beast, but somehow the Steelers breed linebackers...

Exactly, I'd like to keep woodley but there's no way with the salary cap that we can pay them all, and there's no way I give up ben, harrison, or troy to keep woodley.

it's possible we will be seeing a lot of worilds next year. to be honest woodley's chance to earn himself a top contract has already passed

Woodley's already said he wants to remain a Steeler. He will give us the home town discount if we can get him close to his peers. Remember, Farrior may retire and doesn't make 10mm a year, but has a decent contract I believe. I could have seen the Steelers cutting Harrison in a cap move, but he's shown no dropoff whatsoever so I don't think they can do this.

well that's good news he wants to remain a steeler, money talks though. we'll see this offseason.

cutting harrison would be the stupidest move in NFL history. he's playing some of his best football right now.

I beleive Woodly will stay,, cutting Harrison would be a major mistake. Let's see what the new collective agreement says.

Everyone usually says they "want to remain here". Its a bargaining chip.
If he reduces his asking price, we may consider him, but he's going to have to drop it quite a bit. My bet is there will be a few different teams out there that would love to have him, don't have our depth, and will drop the $$$$$$$. The rest of the league is watching us like a hawk...no way other teams want us to keep this D intact. Someone will jump on him and pay him much more than we would pay him.
I think there's a chance he'll stay....but i think its a very small chance. Lets hope for the best.

Woodley is young and collapses the pocket like none other. We need to keep him as long as he doesn't break the bank. If not I wonder what Worilds has....

thats the problem. He is going to break the bank and even losing Farrior off the roster isn't going to pay for this one. They're wanting BIG, BIG dollars and we just ain't gonna have it. We're already paying Ben, Troy and Harrison ridiculous money. I'd be very surprised if they can find a way to wrap up a deal here. I just think he'll get an offer that will dwarf ours.

Lets see what he asks for, remember we still don't know what is going to happen in Collective Bargaining or what will happen with Ike. Would there be a possibility James might restructure his contract to keep him, Wordlis may be a long shot but lets take a look at this, I believe Tomlin knows something, if Woodley were gone after this season why not get the younger guys some reps. I think he'll return he won't get the money he wants but we saved some money when we got rid of, ummmm what was that guy who lined up for field goals, ummmm, I think he is in San Francisco now, damn I hate when I can't remember!!!!! Alot of options available.

Harrison may not have any money left after all these fines! This reminds me of 1995 when we had to let Chad Brown go because Greg Lloyd was signed to a big contract. It was a mistake because Greg dropped off soon after. Let's hope Harrison last atleast 3 more but that may be asking alot.

Woodley will be a part of the Steelers for years to come. I doubt they will release him and I don't believe he'll try to break the bank to get paid. If they want to reward him with a hefty contract, then they will. He knows there's no defense like the Steelers D.

That's a great example of a player who should've stayed on "one team". Chad Brown was a star here, really on the verge of becoming not only a monster here, but well known throughout as well. He then went to Seattle only to find minimal success. There's been a host of players who should have taken a little less here and they would have had a great career.
I always think back to Chad Brown often and shake my head. One of the best examples of a player who should've stayed put.

Maybe he should ask foote what its like to leave to another defense, or joey porter. I say restructure ben and hines to keep him. Ben should be thanking his lucky stars he is even still with the steelers. If he truly just wants to be out there for his guys and win championships he'll take a pay cut to keep his butt-saving defense intact. We need a guy with a motor on the outside and even though he whiffs at times, he's a stout run stopper and can drop into coverage when needed. His pass rush is not as dynamic as harrison, who can bull rush, speed rush, and maul his way to the QB, but it's still adequate. He has the attitude to play OLB for the steelers, that's not easily coached.

max starks is our most overpaid player at over 10mil a year. we need to draft a left tackel so we can cut him or lower his pay and give woodley a raise. i wouldnt pay woodley 10mil a season but he is definatly worth alot more then he is making now

He had a few good years, yes....but in Pitt he was a star here across the board. That didn't really happen there at this level.
Would have liked to see him finish out over here.

If they could do some re-structuring to find a way to keep him, that would be great. It would require alot of work and tweaking by the front office, but anythings possible.
We certainly aren't getting our money's worth for Starks, but if we go free agent for a stud OL, its going to be that $$$ amount and more...and if we get a high draft pick, they want the moon too.

it cant really be more then we pay Starks. he is one of the highest paid linemen in the nfl at $11,406,240 this year. i think Starks is a good player and i would love to keep him on the team but but for over 11 million dollars. thats just insane to me. he is making more this season then Troy, Taylor, Woodley and Timmons combined. there is no way he is worth that. he is making something like 5 times the amount Ryan Clady is making and i would take Clady in a second over Starks
